Sweat pours down my forehead,
beside me my fellow warriors form a triangle
around our homebase, our safe point.
My eyes scan the scene.
A flash of green is seen from the middle
a possibly sign of riches.
But I dare not go near,
in fear that the enemy will be lying in wait.
A shimmer from the right sends my blade swinging
they snuck up on us under a cloak of invisibility!
How did I not see this coming?
My fellow warriors and I fight with the strength of ten.
But their sneak attack had caught us.
One by one my fellow warriors fall
Until none still stand tall.
I respawn in the center, huffing and puffing
only for the rival warriors to come up and say:
If you were a button what would you do,
with the two
or four holes
they drilled into you.
Would you thread needle within
hoping to keep your insides in?
Would you ignore them
and the blood dripping out?
Oozing and spilling from the holes
that they dared to drill in you.
Like you were some kind of toy.
But What About Me?
I feel tears in my eyes as I stare ahead of me at the couple getting married:
The bride looks stunning in her dress, a ball length gown with a trailing train
The groom looks handsome in his suit, a dark blue suit that compliments his eyes.
But these tears aren't for them.
They're for me.
I didn't want to be here.
I didn't want to come to this wedding.
The bride was my sister, who had forced me to come
The groom was my ex-fiance who had left me a month ago
When they found out my sister was pregnant.
How could they do this to me?
I loved him and I trusted her and they both stabbed me in the back.
What's life when the two people you're closest to
betray you in the most awful of ways?
And then rub it in your face?
They look so happy up at the altar,
But what about me?
WhY so SeRIouS?
Why? Why do you ask?
You don't need to ask but yet you do.
I'm serious because... because why?
I don't know.
I'm anxious because the world has many worries that I must worry about.
How am I going to pay for college? Are my grades good enough? Did I make a mistake?
I'm creative because its so much fun to create different worlds and poems!
Flowery poems, stories about knights in shining armor, auroras in the night sky!
I'm hyperactive because I've eaten a lot of candy and that's not even half my energy.
Reeses cups, gummy bears, fruit snacks, and a willingness to tap tap tap.
But serious? Why am I serious? Am I serious?
... Am I serious about this?
Cats and Dogs
People always say how cats and dogs are as far apart as they come
Dogs come and snuggle beside you after a bad day
When you say "Here boy!" or "Here Girl" Dogs will come
And they'll scratch at the door, wanting to go out and play.
At night, dogs will crawl under the covers with you
and comfort you after you've had a bad dream.
Cats are a big prouder and like sitting in the sun
If you try and call them, they straight up ignore you
A lot of people say that if the cat lets you in the room with it
that means that they like you
And of course, they never have to ask to go out,
their box is right there
And sure, that's all true.
Dogs and cats are very different
and a lot of times they do act like that.
But then you get the ones that don't conform
To the normal cat and dog standards
Sweet cats that come over when you go "pspsps"
Grumpy dogs that sit in the corner, growling when you get too close
Cats that enjoy it when you put a leash on them
or when they can ride in the car.
Cats and Dogs may be very different
But they can act the same.
And at the end of the day, one thing is true:
Your cat or dog certainly loves you.
Aliens Rule, Human’s Drool (example for challenge)
Greg growled as he tried to figure out just what was wrong with his phone's wifi. He knew that he had renewed his data plan, why the h*ll wasn't it working?! He had class in fifteen minutes, he couldn't afford to be late because of his wifi acting stupid.
Daitasdi walked into the room, with her green hands on her hips. The green alien was wearing a tank top and a skirt and she had a bow on her antenna. "Why the Medaidas claws are you growling so much?! I could hear you from my pod!"
"My wifis not working." Greg groaned throwing the phone on the table.
"Impossible." Daitasdi declared picking up the phone.
"Clearly its possible because my phone's wifi isn't working." Greg pointed out.
"What did you do to your antenna to make it stop sending out wifi signals?" Daitasdi questioned him even as she tapped the screen with her three fingers.
"Daitasdi, humans don't have antennas."
"I call what you humans call the 'bullshit', what else do you call this?" She points at the baseball cap he is wearing.
"That's just my hat, Daitasdi, its not attached to me or anything." Greg rolled his eyes.
"But I never see you without it, and don't you humans change clothes everyday? Something about them starting to smell after a few uses?" Daitasdi questioned.
"Hats are different." He shakes his head and takes the hat off. "See, not attached."
"You humans are strange to just detach you antennas like that."
"Its not an antenna, ughhhhhhh."
Daitasdi rolls her eyes before asking. "Would you like me to hook your phone onto my antenna's wifi then?"
"... Your antenna gets wifi?!?"
"Yes, I believe I indicated this earlier when you asking you what you did to your antenna to make the wifi stop working." Daitasdi nods.
"You have free wifi on your head." He stares at her in shock.
"Yes, doesn't everyone?"
"You've had free wifi on your head, when I've been paying 75 bucks to get 20 gbs of data on my phone, and you never bothered to offer to share?! Dude!"
"One, I am not what you humans call a dude; Two, you humans suck if you don't even have wifi, even young Galxiads have wifi." She tells him, just being brutally honest.
"Oh shut up and just let me use your wifi for class."
"Fine fine, but you owe me the human ice cream later."
The Weirdest Carnival Ever
When up to the carnival you do walk
you'll be given a stack of chalk.
There's someone selling cabbages by the moon
all the constellations will be there soon.
The carousel is going round and round
that ball over there weighs a pound.
What a conudrum of things at the carnival
at least there's not a chance we'll run into a wall.
It happened in an instant, the black android falling to the floor,
the screen shattering into a thousand tiny pieces that could never be put back together.
I rush to the black phone, hoping that I was just imagining the shattering,
my phone was the roughest, toughest phone in the south.
That old phone had survived being run over by a car by some miracle
the only damage in that case being a scratch.
Was falling off the couch really going to be what did it in?
Apparently, it was, as the screen looked as if someone had tap danced over it,
jabbing the edge of their heels into the screen with every turn made.
When I tried to turn the phone on, it seemed to work alright for a second,
before lines of every color went over the screen, blurring the image to the point
where I couldn't tell if it was the unicorn on my background or a warning sign flashing.
I tried to repair my phone the best I could, but to no avail,
it truly was broken.
Every time I go to look for something, it is never there
I look under things, around things, over top of things, behind things, in front of things
but they're never there
Then someone else comes into the room and within two seconds
I cannot begin to imagine how even as they question my eyesight
"Are you blind or something? How did you not see it?"
I ask myself the same thing.
Maybe I am, or maybe I'm just terrible at looking for stuff
or maybe they were messing with me
It wasn't actually there, they just said it was to make me look a fool
but no, that doesn't make sense why would they do that when they asked me to find it
Am I blind or just near-sighted?
Headaches and Pain Killers
All I can feel as I sit in class is the throbbing of my head
It starts off small, just a small buh-duh-duh bum-diddly-duh buh-duh-duh
I smack the side of my head lightly, trying to make it go away
but that only makes it worse as the gentle pounding turns into hard rock drumming
The drummer not caring that my head is killing me and that I’m trying to concentrate
I can hear the drumming pounding within my heart even as my head keeps throbbing
It feels as if my head is on fire, thousands of hot needles stabbing into my forehead
Help, please, help, my head screams for mercy
Not able to take it anymore, I raise my hand to go to the nurse
The drumming continued as I walked down the hall
banging on my skull like it was a war drum and we were approaching the final battle
Hopefully this was one that I would actually win for once
After being given some ibuprofen, I swallowed the pills down like they were ambrosia
hoping that the godly nectar would soothe the pounding that would not stop ringing
Gradually the drumming stopped, the pounding eased
the pain in my forehead dulled to just a dull thud every five minutes
It was bliss in comparison to the drums
Too bad it was only a day before the war drums started up once more
