Please. Don’t.
What issues do young women face? What a strange question. Why even bother with that question? I carry keys in between my fingers at night. I know where all the exits are. I am aware of other women’s body language when men are approaching. I take the time to realize the ratio of men to women in a bar as soon as I walk in. I don’t think about these things, I just do them because they are ingrained. Because I have been approached too many times, touched too many times, and talked to in ways that are so disrespectful those men have been thrown out without me saying a word. So what issues do young women face? Well let me count the ways. And how about I let you do the research. Maybe talk to the women in your life. Ask for stories. Ask about encounters. Ask about how they stay on the phone as they walk home at night just to feel safer. I would not want to give my answer because my story is very dark. I will say if you are concerned, as in you want to make a difference, do the work. Do the research. Get involved. Do not come to me. Because I have no patience left for these kinds of questions.
Stars
They say they are just balls of gas
others say they are souls not yet born
and yet others say that the stars
the ones we watch
the ones we love
are just other infinities
because some infinities
are bigger than others
There is no fault without reason
but there is reason without fault
There are so many wishes that we make
some on stars
others on hearts
we wish that
someone loved us
or that
someone was healthy
we wish for things
we can't yet have
we wish for different infinities
we wish that life would change
we put all our hopes and dreams
into a simple star
because of what they represent
of what we might be
but we
then again
we might never be
so we stare at those stars
so far away
thinking of today
those familliar constellations
of those familliar patterns
that grew up learning
they that those stars all die
eventually
in a way stars are just humans
yet their different
they live lives
they are born
and they die much like us
they may not have thoughts
but they do have lives
stars are not forever
and one day
the sky will change
those old constellations
will be gone
they will disappear
as those stars explode and die
so we should cherish
those stars and life we live
for you get one life
but you decide how to live it
cause one day you will be gone
much like a star
we fear oblivian much as we should
for one day
we and all the stars might be gone
there was a time before humanity
and there will be a time after
