Days

Some days you've got to let

The demons take over.

You've got to show yourself

That it's all right to be weak

Sometimes.

To just crawl under the sheets

And imagine life

Without life.

Suffocating

The frustration builds

Clogging all airways:

Nothing comes in -

Nothing gets out;

That's what society does

To all of us.

Pretence

Why is it that we keep lying to ourselves?

Every day is just another phase

Of the same lies we lived the day before

And the day before.

Lies we so eagerly want to believe

And do continue to believe, hoping that despite all the pain inflicted and all the souls broken

One day, these lies will be true;

Just one day we'll say I told you so.

Choices

I lived every moment,

Engrossed in what wasn't -

Thinking about what could.

It wasn't until I thought about you

That I realised just how much

Of my life I had let go.

But now,

I choose -

And I choose

To be happy.

Speed

Raging velocities run past me

Slicing by the sides of my arms

Drawing all air from me

Slowly aching my heart numb

Resurrected

Amidst the conquering chaos,

And the haunting hollows,

My anaemic tenacity ripened,

Through thick weeds of dark.

I could now hear the throbbing blood,

Pulsating in continuous rhythm;

And the depth of breath,

Satisfying my crumbled chest.

I knew not that one touch,

And a look of the eyes,

Would bring me alive again.

Books

The pages flipped in open breeze,

Dancing to the tunes of ghastly wind,

Halting for a slight tease,

Attempt to but cannot be pinned.

They gently brushed along my finger,

Vexed by the continuous motion,

Holding on to that one chapter,

Capsulated by all emotion.

Stranded

Life seemed to stop

In the span of a few hours:

Crumbling with might,

Falling apart.

Scarred

I tried to burn memories,

In the warmth of your breath,

Tried to heal scars

With the skin on your palms,

Tried to iron the creases

On my folded heart;

All in vain:

You were the hurt.

Today I've known

The true meaning of

Being alone:

To have people around

Yet to constantly

Feel a void;

To be of perfectly

Good health,

Yet feel a sinking vacuum

In your abdomen;

To know that family is irreplaceable.
