Who

Who are the lonely?

who sleep when sleep escapes

who tear apart a future

"What would have been." in shapes

Who are the lonely?

those bodies on the bench

mumbled phrases ticking

begging clouds to drench

Who are the lonely?

walking in a crowd

seeking pleading no one

eyes so bright and loud

Who are the lonely?

they can carry on

but not as one who accepts life

just doing as they've always done

We are the lonely

who begged God to hold them

but as the midnight whispered

from silence answers stemmed

I am the lonely

I ask that you realize

we've all walked in lonely

and lonely has no guise

Lonely meets us all

takes us by command

it speaks when we won't listen

and promises us its hand

"Marry me." says lonely

"I will never leave."

and as you almost answer

your stubborn strength will cleave

You'll shake it angry growl

and demand that it would go

and as it leaves you'll understand

that lonely helped you grow

You

You cannot

claim a truth

if travesty

syrupy farce

coats your tongue

you don't make small talk

you think small

I cannot

imagine you

speaking without a porcelain smile

go ahead

dance the masquerade

I will not amuse you

I've humoured you long hours

you are too you for me

Tally

Tally up the wisemen

tell them to walk away

this star is not for wisemen

who sit on thrones and say

"You a fool I call you out!

Mark this one as dead.

I saw his soul its black throughout!

I would not feed him bread!"

Tally up the sinners

I think they number few

who call out boasting winners

would that they would spew

They seek some shelter rain is fine

as long as they're not solely

near those who point yet seek divine

but fall so short of holy

Tally up the people

I think their numbers fall

who call to mind a steeple

and answer heaven's call

To gather and to bundle

all whose scars are tender

not pure of heart would crumble

from wisemen crooked mender

Sounded

Ring the tolling thunder

rolling on the horizon

mark an age for wonder

a joy for eyes to rely on

Take what little fabric

a strip of grass and bark

and make a dress most classic

to remember this till dark

A tender loving kiss

from sun to sky earth shakes

whilst golds and copper hiss

from water sky awakes

I've seen all that I can

from this lone mountain wry

and as the sun again

descends I march heart high

Silent Painter

Silent ripples

in the hills

mask a maker

nature quills

ponder shade

and tree is placed

mask forbade

a path retraced

every morn

eyes intake

a sky adorned

to makers take

sacred hand

shadow prints

upon this land

in footfall hints

soaring high

a blue will fold

within the sky

soft purple mold

melting pallet

strange in hue

laughing ballad

natures brew

silent sonet

nature's say

earth's honey bonnet

"Another day."

Prayer

I took my words

and emptied letters

into your palms

you never saw

and while you sought

to sort the letters

all my soul

was drilled to dust

it's been taken

what can I add

to burning pile

stark echoed hell

all the while

you dropped the

paper chicken scratches

never mind

you've translated

but by now I've learned

even prayers can't always be

deciphered when not spoken

May

You may remember

how I stood

or how I spoke

when under good

or how I laughed

in devils lair

with hearty tears

from shaking stare

or how I said

with back to wall

how I am worthy

just to fall

or how I cried

you'd never confess

at turning me "Don't look!"

to ignore my distress

or how I would mumble

and cause quite a scandal

to stand up for justice

was too much to handle

or how I could rise

within you such red

as to be called a killer

of peace in my stead

or how I would fake

a face yet you knew

but you brushed it aside

more often than few

or how oft you ranted

on how happy was mine

but you weren't good enough

and I wasn't fine

or when I would stutter

and hiccup my words

just to have that nagging

pick up in thirds

you may remember me

and that's all that you'll do

I won't always be here

but my legacy will haunt you

Road

Give me a road

and I the dumb toad

will pass on the shortcut

carved in the asphalt

"I've driven this direction

my mind's on inspection

and I know its curves

I'll risk the extra mile."

Simply because its new

will I not construe

the courage to drive

upon the virgin path

I've been here before

though quite a bore

I know its soft tilts

the driver's hands are robotic

"Don't mention the minutes

I could save in its

smarter commute

I'll take the long way."

Drifting mindless I see it

a glow within the street it

speaks to me I can't move on

I'll turn here whats another sidetrack?

Shifting to my blinker

I flick to mark my swerve here

and faking my own spunk

I turn the steady wheel

Laughing falsely I try

to gather within me the lie

that I am a fast learner

a student lost in the wilderness

I park though where I don't know

I found that I enjoyed it though

when I turned the key to go

I knew that glow was my own

Rag

Torn from angers cloth

I wipe my face

dripping blood

as a solution

to clean

the raging agony spilling

from my eyes

weak solvent

bleach is of the past

I cleanse with red longing

and dry with the hollowness

of my cries

take what you will

the floor will be scrubbed

remove your hope I can't reach

I'm done

but if you return

take off your words

the floor is easily stained

and some stains

never come out

You know

To all who said I was ugly

to all who've said I am weak

to all who've said I am nothing

to all who made me believe

I give thanks

Your broken words may be soiled

but I won't break back in toiled

thoughtless woe when not sleeping

trust in me safely keeping

I'll end my day in a smile

I'll speak of pain but in fast

a tense long gone swiftly past

dyeing the marks are to meet

my scars on crinkle chipped feet

My mouth will bleed love

You know I used to love hate

in drowning my mind would abate

a screaming soul to release its life

to him who claims all our strife

I find my soreness welcoming

It means that my heart still beating

can take the likes of you meeting

a clash and slash of a monster

I've fought when loss was the sponsor

And yet here I am

No matter what the damn day

I'll know though I bleed away

crumbling doubt filling full

I'll never be as hideous as your soul
