Still Water

Still water still water

unabashed by the sun

blushing gushing red

embarrassed by no one

Still water you rippled

a wrinkle no fuss

just a moment just a second

you'll be calm for all of us

Still water you've shattered

how can thus be so

your grace in its place

has marched right out of row

Still water a picture

you've painted hues of pain

never flat always that

sad circles warped by rain

Still water calmly

I beg for your design

and yet you stay by light of day

as broken as this heart of mine

die Rose

A rose I'm given and it I take

its thorns I find with bites of red

and though I cry and my hands shake

I drain my face of any dread

The pain of knowing and not all the same

I seek to find a holding firm

but when I tighten my hand exclaims

telling me not to shift or squirm

"Why must it hurt?" my eyes gasp

as water falls and lands on a petal

the rose is stunning and tears make it cast

a finer shine than any metal

I call to sky and earth and air

to release me from this floral trap

but all I hear is devil may care

laughing echo a harsh landing slap

After a spell I roll my sleeves

the vines of pink don't bother me

they make a trail of zig zag bees

a warping vine on naked tree

My scars they heal while new ones tattoo

upon my fingers and skin they impose

and while I cannot say "I'm fine." and lie to you

I'm better off with this my Rose

Delicate

Delicate sin

please let me in

I killed her you'll see

Don't let all the air

from grace seek to tear

my soul to you I give win

I've lied once before

and that please ignore

when sun sets you'll see all the blood

I'm done with the light

I squint most at night

even though dimness spills from the moon

I'm drunk have a heart

just take it I part

with the sores of human sentiment

Wood

In the woods a cabin lay

with window panes of ruby red

a door it opens like wind at play

with hairs on larks in tangled bed

Within the walls these flattened trees

a beating thrum is heard in part

the eyes of many will see as they please

but only some will see the heart

Listen and you'll hear the tune

the cabin holds no secrets dim

but if you take this heart devoid of boon

you'll find no rest for your punished sin

This cabin holds a youngster's smile,

a child's trust of one divine

to seek in love this heart beguiled

is to ask of one who says "This heart is mine."

Say

Oh forgive my inadequacy

oh forget my words

and as I start

to tear apart

I see my hands are black with stark verbs

With just a quill

ink makes a palace

but when I say on

and on and still on

my thoughts reflect more and more callous

Empty speeches still make an echo

and you've heard all and more that I've said

and when late at night

the stars scream red light

I'll pound my hands till rain stains the bed

What more can I do

when I see the vines grow

around in your mind

dear God please be kind

its so damn beautiful, soft blood in the snow

You can't see around

blue green drapery dark

but open your eyes

and smirk at the lies

a path will you find to mark

I give you these words

its all that I have

when you again

find red in your pen

I'll sing you a hand to hold friend

Willow Lane

Take a walk to willow lane

a place of quiet dusty fame

all find it taking a piece of peace

one step another till lane they cease

I walked there once on morning warmth

a pleasant smell I met henceforth

the sun it laughs there taking notes

to create a better summer it hopes

Jealousy coats the sun in truth

it wants the lane's subtle beauty and youth

the drawing scents and colours many

The willow lane has secrets yes plenty

You find it only in need and sleep

or sleep it seems to all who seek

for when you wake it leaves you wondering

was I dreaming when I met that lane wandering?

Drip

Just a tiny drip

A seamless envied rip

reality is tasteless

and I can't stop the trip

Dangle from a tree branch

no earth for normal's slow dance

my feet are tapping clouds

soul trapped in sky's entrance

Get me the hell down

why'd you let me drown?

who untied my tethers?

I guess I'll ask around

I wish this was my Neverland

but all I see is misty sand

itchy holes inside my shoes

no more can I on solid stand

Just

Don't walk

Just shuffle

your feet they tread on

a path that is long

and hallowed by paw marks and nettle

Why think?

Just move

If you were to stop

the leaves would mop up

your footprints and time would you lose

Keep going

Just breathe

For if you address

the past in its rest

your destruction will be your belief

Don't sigh

Just fight

On knees will you fall

stomach face and all

till standing just ain't worth it right?

I know you

Just cry

If this were the end

naught time would you spend

without tranquility to sleep by

Hey fellow Prosers! So my birthday is coming up and I am super excited! It's also got me thinking about age and how we all perceive it in different ways. So here's the challenge: write a poem about how we as a society view age or coming of age. Have fun and get writing! :)

Time

Time

that slips into future

marks on your arm

tell another story

what else is there to procure

"I'm not wise enough."

I hadn't known wisdom

to choose a length requirement

or knowledge

a specific host

but I'm too young

what could I know

time is a fickle driver

and I'm only

a silent passenger

Hermit

I sit alone

with what I own

the walls are each named Greg or Steve

and as I lay

dusk leaves with day

and the stars remind me of Sun's reprieve

I speak to my

own self why lie

my advice at least is clear

and even so

if lying foe

within me should speak I wouldn't hear

What to remember

but one lost December

when all I had was everything

and though I live

through poor man's sieve

sorrow is not mine to sing
