The Great Pretender
I know a man
Who’s empty inside
He searches everywhere
To fill up his pride
I know a man
Who likes to pretend
A real life chameleon
Claiming everyone a friend
When no one’s looking
He’ll stab you in the back
Or the heart...
Some kind of attack
He’s the predator
You’ll never know
Until it’s too late
You’re part of his show
I know a man
Who’s so broken
You’ll blindly let your love
Be worn as the ultimate token
Hypocrisy will cease to exist when we first learn to correct the flaws in ourselves before pointing out and/or trying to fix the flaws in others.
However, we can also agree to welcome the person with the very same flaw to join us on a journey to figure out how to fix it in each other...together. We are never above them but equal.
A Breaking Heart’s Cry
I am not ready
To let you go
I am not ready
To let you know
That inside I hurt
From holding on
To the memories
Oh so very fond!
It was you and I
We fell so hard
Where have they gone,
When we endlessly spar?
I am not ready
To feel the emptiness
I am not ready
To feel the pettiness
Of this fragment of
A love screaming out
It isn't happening
My heart wants to shout
It was you and I
We said forever
I am not ready
To say "Never..."
To Be At Peace
Looking in the distance
Stood a chance
For my eyes to jump for joy
Listening to those words
Sang a tune
For my heart to be pleased
Breathing scents so provoking
Waved a memory
For my mind to yearn
Tasting beauty in mulitudes
Salivated a desire
For my body to be touched
Feeling abstract emotions
Beheld a hope
For my soul to be satisfied
Fleeting moments...
Just a distant reflection
Of where I want to be
Happiness...
Can't be captured
For our very own
Peace...
Life's answer--
Solution to temporary (dis)satisfaction
One lie leads to the next
Truth remains hidden
Behind suspicion
Intuition tries to lead
Liars ready to betray
Fibs become a plead
Ones who feel betrayal
Accused of not having trust
Turns discernment to dust
Honesty never found
Trust out of reach
Love has no sound
