Lizards

After being raised in a cat home, then marrying a dog person, and now suffering multiple nights with a dripping nose and scratchy throat I can confidently say the one pet I miss the absolute most was my lizard.

No fur - no barking/yowling - no constant vacuuming - no problem.

100% team cat

WARNING: may be offensive to dog lovers and owners.

I am a cat person.

Cats take care of themselves.

Cats eat from their bowls when they are hungry and save the rest for later, so you can leave them enough food for a weekend, and they will be just fine when you come back.

They don’t need to be walked or taken out to poop or pee.

They are clean, and you never need to cut their hair.

They may claw a few things, but think about how much more dogs destroy.

Cats snuggle and play games.

You can teach some of them to play fetch(just depends on its personality).

Dogs demolish everything.

Dogs are stinky.

Dogs need to go on walks.

They need to be taken outside to pee and poop.

They need to get their hair cut.

They need to be washed.

They eat all their food in one sitting.

Cats and dogs have different personalities. While dog owners say dogs are loyal, I believe they are needy.

While dog owners say cats are antisocial or distant, I believe they are just self sufficient and they know what they want and when they want it.

Cats are less dangerous.

Even the little tiny ankle biter dogs are more dangerous than cats.

Those are a few of the reasons I am a cat person.

I’m A Cat-Loving Bitch Myself.

Cats - They make my heart leap in excitement.

Utterly enamored, I observe their aloof pride;

Their vicious hisses,

Their calm intellect.

My tongue lolling stupidly,

I tend to their courtly desires.

My tail wags with loyalty

While they glance at me in disgust,

And with sanguine acceptance

I re-live that one time the cat curled up on my side,

Using me

For warmth.

Cats and Dogs

I am a cat person. Dog people bother me, with their overabundant enthusiasm, the urgent need to constantly be socializing. There are a few I can generally bear... but overall entirely too tiring to be worth the effort. I prefer cat people, those independent enough to function without constantly seeking your command or approval, who recognize your space without invading. Cat people might be thought of as aloof, although I think a better term would be reserved. Saved for people they like, those they know are worth the effort and bring out the kitten in them. People they can be playful with, who acknowledge the need for solitude sometimes. Dog people, so driven by interaction, don't always understand why we pull away or find some people overwhelming.

Or were you talking about people who want to own a cat versus people who want to own a dog? Being allergic to cats, I lean sharply towards the canine end of the spectrum. Being less allergic to dogs, though, I make a case for the reptiles. The lizards whose bright-eyed exploration of their terrarium and ferocious moth-hunts bring so much joy. The corn snakes who love sitting on your shoulders, content to just be company. The turtles who always look slightly confused, but willing to go along with it.
