That’s Just Not How It Works...
I’d love to teach a soul to love,
But love cannot be taught;
There’s no magic cooing dove,
No potion sold or bought,
’Can bridge the gap twixt ken and love,
Or stop it when it’s wrought.
Take it from a hopeless case;
A flingy clingy leaper;
Common sense concedes control
To love: the throaty weeper.
It gets mixed up with other things:
With guts, with pride, with pain.
It’s never perfect music that crescendos in the rain...
Until you realize that it is;
A total belly-flipper...
’Let the bards their wedding dances;
Leave the prince a slipper.
So then you think you know it well.
You think you’ve got it sorted.
Until of course your notions are inevitably thwarted.
Still, a little shoulder-chipped,
You wed the prince regardless,
And you find you really love him,
’Coz he’s funny when he’s guardless.
But years go by, and feelings fade,
Until they rise again...
So love’s no “ever fixed mark” it’s flawed and wishy-washy...
But then you’ll burst out laughing as your kid says “splishy sploshy”
And later on you’ll smile bright to see your darling nap’ns.
’Coz then you finally get it:
Love’s not taught.
It simply happens.
we love like sunshine
between hellos and goodbyes,
your smile and my caution;
between the sheets and the floor,
your bruises and my bandaids;
between one drink and the next,
your roses and my grave;
between one day too many
and one breath not enough,
you learn to treasure the sunshine
that comes from the moon;
it is the only thing that will guide you
on nights like these.
Love...its a wonderful feeling
If you wish
wish to love somebody
then love the one
with your whole heart and soul
And be pure
pure in your love
Its that simple
simple the formula of love.
to their laughs, laments & long tales
one and all with an open outlook
their very existence, verve & wisdom
every eccentricity & imperfection
Conceptually you’re perfect.
Realistically we’re too different
I like sitcoms
I play board games and read
I know all the lyrics to Hamilton
and no other show
I spend hours on online wizard games
And I think I want to pursue a career in marine biology
but i don’t know if I have what it takes
You want to tour the world,
but you know you need a 9 to 5.
You laugh at stand up comedy.
You are outwardly judgemental of everything.
You know the names of every band,
but can’t remember what the teacher just said.
You smoke pot
and aren’t afraid of dying.
We are thinkers.
We are democrats and share ideals.
We want a more equal land and sea.
We say everything,
but won’t tell each other
we love one another.
So don’t you see
We are certainly not meant to be.
Yours until you want me,
P.S. keep me in mind.
So basically the point is that no one knows how to love and everyone is super confused all the time. Most of the time what we think is love is only in our heads, and we build up the object of our affection a lot. Yet, love isn't logical or realistic so if you just go with what feels right, usually you'll end up on the right path. And most importantly don't be afraid to set boundaries or leave, your decisions are your own (as is your life). In essence: live, laugh, love.
1. Love is a Verb, it requires action.
2. Love is not a feeling, it is a lifelong commitment.
3. Love is not like tooth paste if you dislike get another brand.
4. Love will be patient till you meet someone who is like-minded and is also patient with you.
5. Love is caring and not full of pride, but willing to share their thoughts and dreams for a life together.
6. Love is enduring pain, loss holding each other up through the rough road of life together.
7. Love is to power to give everything that makes you and give it to another without regrets.
8. Love is three rings of life, Engagement ring, wedding ring and suffering together, for better or for worse, through sickness and health. Whether rich or poor, you will always be rich in heart.
9. The day of the wedding when you first kiss, then start life together, never wavering from your commitment.
10. The day you lay on your deathbed. The Lover of your Soul, a lifelong friend, with your hands, you hold together to the last breath. That love will never die.
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
something to allow
you don't need
it is already a part of you
once you stop
tossing and turning.
what or how?
you need no particle accelarator,
to measure the distance, between.
here, the uncertainty principle,
is a given.
the more you know of trajectory,
the less you know of state.
the mass, or spin,
will obscure vibration,
if there is one.
and yet probabslistic accounting,
will be a like drinking crazy glue.
all we, stupid apes, do,
a crumpled up almond joy wrapper,
a fossil of tears shed,
and a tap on shoulder,
that you got after the funeral.
running between doctors,
for an answer.
the words on the file don’t indicate,
but the frequancy, and urgancy,
of the appointments.
regreted words that were not uttered,
resurfacing later, in stupid posts.
an analysis is not made,
by a strange reader.
love is ,
indicated by broken glasses,
the shattered chrystal, traces ,
like the elusive particle,
but not reformed again,
love is unlove.
it is known by abscence,
cotton balls, and highballs,
and bills to uncaring suits.
all these, my friend,
are indications that this emotion,
even if it emits no radiation,
even if it has a brief half life,
and unknowable velocity.
now, HOW to love,
that i know not.
being just an idiot ape.
The shades of love are
Action and Possession
Given and Taken
Twisted with need
Flowing when pure
Best or Worst
Persistent or Fleeting
from the universe with love
in the realm of the universe, there exists a pocket of star dust we call our existence.
we check the boxes, surviving and optimistic.
but humans seek greater opportunities if they make it far enough to hope for them.
when desire comes it flows, not like a river but like lava erupting out of a crevice we didn't know existed.
you seek it, but it alludes you.
this is the feeling of love.
when humans press themselves together, perhaps we are hoping for a future free of loneliness, of passing on genetics.
but more than that, we need to be with someone who can live forever under our umbrella, the smallest corner of a thankless universe.
teaching someone to love is like creating fire out of rocks, we do it for warmth and necessity, for survival, but also because we are drawn to the flames.
don't take it for granted. we are a ball of dust in an infinite galaxy, only wanting to make the moments we have last forever.
