Love’s Last Gasp

Jealousy

Arrives

Nudging passion aside with

Unfounded accusations

Anger overshadows all with an embrace of

Raging distrust

Yielding blind destruction of my heart's sweet care

Yuletide Connivance

Jutting lines of modern yuletide ball gowns

And suits of monetary armor wrapped around men.

Neurotically, we clamber to the top of the pyramid

Under the orders of our self-protecting Id.

Armed with whistling words and clinking champagne glasses we

Reach into the lives and down-coat pockets of our fellow guests

Yearning, yet never finding that sense of self-security we so desperately seek.

January

Just as the new year creeps in on

Accelerated heels as always,

New years resolutions fall away as fast and

Underneath the false promises, your

Arrival here still means something;

Run to catch up with

Your life, if you dare

J.A.N.U.A.R.Y

Junior schoolers sit back in their seats;

And someone looks back at his life.

Now, with the start of the new,

Useful skills are to be gained.

Awesome is man, for he waits for the best;

Rough is the world, for it gives nothing but

Years of youth. And winters.

Stormy Days

Just a little sunshine to end this rainy day,

And take all the pain and worry far away.

No one had found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow,

Until someone let all their fear and negativity go.

All storms pass if you'll only give it time,

Right when it's heaviest, you're almost at your prime.

Yolks are soft until touched by heat, then they harden with strength that can't be beat.

It’s blue, ok!?

January is justifiably red. "No, it's blue!"

According to who? You're colorblind! "hey...

New year, new me, amirite?"

Ubiquitously wherever you go: still colorblind. "What does tha-

a-a-achoo." Are you allergic? "Yes." To what?

"Red January-"

"You're both wrong... it's yellow"

The Begining

Just because it started

Again we're back at the beginning

Nothing changed, despite that

Unless you force something to happen

Again the year will

Repeat as your own error but

You can make it new

Winter Solstice

Just another winter’s day

A crisp, cold wind whispers

Nestling in the trees

Until it swooshes

And whistles

Rattling the house.

You, child of winter, are at peace.

Tinsel and Carols

Just as we are immersed fully in holiday glut glow

Along comes the time of windswept chill emptiness

No celebrations until Valentine’s Day

Understanding that day is pain when

All alone

Reminiscing about tinsel and carols.
