Swallowing Sin

It stained my soul

dark blemishes of angst

but now it was over

I had gotten rid of pain.

I sat down to savor

scrumptious bowl of soup

rich and meaty

chock full of nutrition

with every tasty bite.

Then I chomped down

on what felt like bone,

fished it out of mouth

and screamed in horror.

When I saw bloody finger

staring with reproach,

I knew my troubles

were just beginning.

I must have dropped

parts of his body

along the way

and in my soup,

digits leading

like arrow pointing

to guilt, so

I swallowed my sin.
