A Tale for the Fallen
She lost her lover to the sea
one wet midsummer morn;
and watched the waves down by the quay
harb'ring her home from storm
what is a home but floral walls
and mem'ries trapped in brick?
her true home fills these empty halls,
but her true home's dying quick
with everything, she wished she could
save him, but Neptune took
him under waves, under driftwood;
death by a pirate's hook
how would she raise this child alone
with only half her heart?
men don't sit on Poseidon's throne;
with him, she'd have to part
how could she trust her memories
of him from long ago
a village girl, a sailor boy,
a love all lit aglow
a year ago, she would have thought
that never in her life
would she find love, no, she would not
become some sailor's wife
but now her skirts blew mourning black
above a tumbling wave
she did want love, her lover back
from his watery grave
she looked upon the ocean, there,
and sang her sailor's song
but he was there, he was aware
of her cries all along
he said: "Here! I escaped the waves!"
and up the lady glanced
and her love filled her heart's dark caves
and up the quay they danced

Shipwreck
Upon the calm sea my visions of her and I lie in shipwreck.
Atop my Island vantage point cursing the hopeless prospect.
A tale of fairies, to profess but know it's untrue,
Abashed to know I thoughtlessly chased after you.
I braved the storms of your insecurities, a fragile heart,
The bitterness of your indifference and the regrets of our past.
Tides of weakness swept me closer to the tongues of your deceit,
I raise ancor and breath, this was always to be my defeat.
