We all know limericks. Light, funny, sometimes dirty, AABBA. Time to flip them. Can you express your best serious, dark, or twisted idea while keeping true to the limerick form? Let's take the whimsy out of whimsical!

Write a suuuper short poem titled 'December' (sort of like a haiku but w/out syllable rules) and PLS TAG ME so I can read and enjoy ur fantastic words

I thought it would be fun to write limericks for my friends about funny memories we share... but then I thought it would be even more fun to extend the challenge to the rest of you guys :) Just write a limerick about a funny memory you have, and tag me in the comments so I can read them. Looking forward to your entries! "A limerick is a humorous poem consisting of 5 lines. The first, second, and fifth lines have 7-10 syllables while rhyming and having the same verbal rhythm. The third and fourth lines should only have 5-7 syllables; they too must rhyme with each other and have the same rhythm."

Winter is inching closer and closer, though it may not officially be winter the weather would make you think it is. Write a micro-poem of what winter is to you. It does not have to be a literal meaning, it could be of memories or feelings you associate with winter or how you depict the season. 15-20 words

For my very first Prose challenge, I would like you to recreate a simple, fleeting moment that moved you or touched you in some way, whether it be be a life-changing event or a simple realization. tag me in the comments @ubiquitous .

Yeah you’ve heard this old playground song before, and maybe sang it yourself one point in your life. “___ and ___ sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G. First comes love, then comes marriage. Then comes baby in the baby carriage.” Now it’s your turn to put a new twist on it. Make up whatever names you want--or pair up two different people or characters together--and write out the rest of the rhyme. The final two verses, “First comes love, then comes marriage. Then comes baby in the baby carriage”, should be your own original rhyme for it. Make up whatever you want for the two final verses. I understand some might take it a bit further by using two Prosers to fill out the pairings, but to avoid any unwanted teasing or insults, if you want to use two Prosers please be respectful and ask them first it see if it is okay by them. If they’re not okay with it, respect their wishes and move on to something else. Extra spacing for any hashtags you wish to include.

The challenge is to write a piece with 21 words, "including the title". I call it the Blackjack Challenge. All you have to do is write about the first thing you see after 12 noon on any given day (hyphenated words will count as one word).. I have allotted for only 20 words max as this never counts the title. Even I will wait until after noon before posting. (Prose or poetry, matters not.) Have fun with this!

According to Wikipedia, the more recent popularity of "micro-poetry" to describe poems of 140 characters in length or shorter appears to stem from a separate coinage, as a portmanteau of "microblogging" and "poetry". Hence this is the challenge, counting spaces, commas, periods and letters. Write a micro-poem no longer than 140 characters. (This does not include the title). It should not be any longer than 30 words maximum (though I have allowed for two additional words if needed.) but it should fall within the range of no more than 140 characters. It can be on any topic/subject. (I will be counting and spaces count as a character). Don’t forget to tag me in the comment section … @Danceinsilence.
