Light 8 Candles
Hannukah will be celebrated from November 28 through December 6 this year. I invite you to have your own Festival of Lights. Write 8 rhyming couplets about your hopes, wishes and prayers.
If your heartbeat were music tuned to the pitch of your individual personality, what genre would it be, how long would it be, what instruments would play it, and how high would it get in the charts. Mine would be a much loved one hit wonder that, in the country of Chad, would make number one for a solid day and a half and then disappear into whatever crack mombo number five fell into after its success. It would be played on an orchestra of kazoos and have a bpm matching drumb and bass with intermittent psytrance bass wobble. And finally; id say it was up beat in most parts with heavy bass.
Need I say more, poetry prose or a limerick…
Fun Challenge ... well, it should be
. Take at least 3, no more than 10 song titles and write either a poem or a love letter with each title included. Again, though it is listed as Monarchy, the winner will be chosen by me with the most likes. However, if you do not tag me, It won't matter how many likes you have so put my name in the comment box, not in the piece you write as @Danceinsilence ... let the fun begin!
Write a poem about a moment where you felt present.
Any moment where you were very aware of the world around you and your existence in it. Describe what you heard, smelled, tasted, felt, or saw in detail. Write about the emotions you felt and how your body felt in that moment.
We are approaching Halloween, and not much longer after that will be Thanksgiving, followed by just about everyone’s favorite holiday—Christmas. Thus this challenge is to incorporate all three holidays into a three stanza poem followed by a single line ending. This can be dark, eerie, pleasant, daunting. Possibilities with this can be endless.
Because Prose still has some difficulties determining a winner via most likes, and though this falls under Monarchy, I will choose the winner based on the total amount of likes. The only difference this time is this: If you do not tag me in the comment box, not in your piece—it will not matter how many likes you have, it will not be chosen, so be sure to tag me as @Danceinsilence. I will start this off so you get an idea or ideas from which to decide how you wish to go with this.
Write a structured poem with an ABCABC rhyme scheme. As many lines and stanzas as you like. If you go past 6 lines you can continue with ABC or switch to DEFDEF and so on. (If you're really sneaky, you can even change the rhyme scheme at the end entirely, so long as the first six lines conform.)
Write A Sestina
A highly structured archaic poem with repeating end-words and confuzzlingly puzzlesome rules. The challenge everyone's been waiting for! ... right? ...........Here are the rules on how to write a sestina (too many to copy) from the Academy of American Poets: https://poets.org/glossary/sestina .............For reference (or simply an enjoyable pastime) I recommend reading Rudyard Kipling's "Sestina of the Tramp-Royal" https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/46775/sestina-of-the-tramp-royal
