INDEPENDENT THOUGHT
If I cannot change the world, I will change myself - and by changing myself I will alter the world too, as movements in a mirror. Change is not a supernova of novelty or a revolution of shock; it is a subtle choreography in which we all take part. We take part in this dance by questioning our hearts, our thoughts, our actions and intentions. We take part by not burning our witches, but giving them brooms; by not slaughtering our enemies, but manoeuvring peace treaties; by not impoverishing the poor, but giving them education. We take place by stepping out of the dark dance of the multitude and by joining in the alternative - when people insult us, threaten us, we retaliate fiercefully but without violence. We retaliate by smiling darkly and standing still - never running towards or away from anything.
