The Pledge
The people are marching
Week after week
Raising their voices
In protest
Of the edicts
In support
Of our rights
Democracy
Has awakened in
The masses
Stirring them
To reach for
Greater and greater
heights
My heart and soul
And mind
Are with them
Though my body
Cannot be
But I have
Words
To raise to action
Those who have
Not yet
Found their own
And I will write
Until my fingers
Bleed
Upon the keys
To ensure that
We will all
Till our dying days
Remain free
