Oath Breaker
May I introduce you?
Here is born a realm breathing
Laying boundless and teeming
Potential beyond mere eons.
Cascading hillocks and rivulets
Tumbling tundra in pale silk
Between seas and oceans free
Glistening caverns beneath.
Challengers and spell-weavers,
Stonemasons, archers and death dealers;
The many masks of the gods
Crafted in fleshy resemblance.
Cultures sewn from blood
Tradition cast from chance and omen
From lives sacrificed and oaths
Sacred kept but others broken.
Bearing down are triplets of suns
Singing silent hymns of heat
Seasons arrive but leave swift
Their shadows passing in retreat.
But blessed, am I, observer
Of many moons and blessings
Curses and plagues and winters
Beneath gaping, resplendent skies.
Yet who am I to be?
Keeper of secrets unsought
Of words neglected to rot
Seeking surcease of calamity.
I do yet marvel yet sigh
For season's sinking sight
That succession of suns
Cloaking all within in night.
