Brass frame dulled
By years of neglect
Holds a shattered glass
Doorway I've come to inspect
It's a mystery to me
It just seems to reflect
My face back again
With tiny black flecks
Of aged silver poured
Thick to protect
A passage it holds
Where worlds will connect
But its glass doesn't waver
It shows no suspect
It's just another mirror
No difference to detect
But upon looking closer
At this tarnished object
I've come to realize
The door works perfect
From another angle
I can see its effect
The mirror has captured
And begun to collect
The faces it's seen
And the ones it reflects
They swim in the glass
While the mirror infects
Turning them inward
And they start to reject
The face that it shows
And they start to expect
The mirror to fix them
Replace incorrect
But the mirror just stays
It will not resurrect
What it has taken
Or fix what it wrecked
This mirror is dangerous
It steals self respect
