Sunlight Story
There he lived
by railroad tracks
decaying in sweet summer
breezes and song,
filling his body with
a day's worth of sunlight
He would reach out
to the sky as birds flew by
and rest upon the first
of the owls mournful cry
and repeat his days again
and sit out in the sun
Watch the grass roll on the hills
were in youth he did find fun
And he falls back
against time as it folds
through his hair
and the silence of the kitchen
and the stairs, where he weaves
his hats and goes to the tracks
to fill his body with a day's
worth of sunlight
