What I want to be when I grow up
"When you grow up what do you want to be?"
Since you're five years old it's one of the first things you're asked, right after "what's your name?" And "how old are you?".
And I used to have answers.
And it doesn't matter what all those answers were. None of them are permanent at that age. But as I grew older I decided that I wanted to be a lawyer and then a politician. I wanted to make the country a better place and then I wanted to be president so that I could make the world a better place. That's a distant dream now though.
I don't want money, I don't want success, I don't want everyone to know my name, I don't want fulfillment, and I don't want glory. Right now, all I want is to be happy. When I'm asked what I want to be I still reply with "a lawyer, then a politician." But when I look to the future all I can see is me. Finally happy. That's my dream. And maybe one day I will be a lawyer and I will be president and I will make the country and then the world a better place. But right now, all I want to be is happy.
