PREMONITION
My feet pounded against the concrete stairs as I ran. My heart thudded in my chest, and my ankles burned from all the running. The wind whipped at my face and hair. I needed to get to the open, away from my family. The open would save me, and protect them. As I reached the open I stopped and whispered. To the wind. The wind picked up around me as the air turned green. My feet lifted off the ground and I felt the wind welcoming me.
Asher rounded the corner and stopped. He had known that I could do a lot of stuff but he didn't know that I could do this. I smiled at him and then whispered a word to the wind.
"Spin," I said. I felt the wind around me turn into a tornado and then as it twisted towards Asher I whispered again.
"Stop," I felt the wind subdo to my wish and as my feet touched the ground, I called the water, lighting and wind back. I twirled my hands and called the lightning. I whispered a word to the wind and called it back. I called to the water.
"Really?" Asher said. He smiled a wicked smile and then his body glowed with green.
"I'm not afraid of you," I said. I steadied the lightning and wished for it to stop being stubborn.
"Really?" He said. He looked at the green on his arms and then focused. The green moved toward his hands, growing into a ball. He threw it at me but I used the wind to stop it.
The lightning wanted free and I loosed it letting it zapped the ground beside me. The wind was more patient though.
"Is really all you can say?" I asked in a voice that was steady but had enough authority to make it sink in. He shrugged and then lifted into the wind.
"You can't destroy the person who created you," he said.
I woke up with a start and then sat up in bed. I walked to the door and was about to open it. The curtains opened as I turned the doorknob.
"Hello, Aubrey. Remember me?"
I panic, and I start running. My feet pound against the concrete stairs as I run. My heart thuds in my chest, and my ankles burn from all the running. The wind whips at my face and hair. I need to get to the open, away from my family. The open would save me, and protect them. As I reach the open I stop and whisper. To the wind. The wind picks up around me as the air turns green. My feet lift off the ground and I feel the wind welcoming me.
"Hello, Asher."
