Alaris
Chapter 1
The Silver Knight
Alaris Moonwell, a young woman about 5' 6'' with long brown hair, green eyes, and a medium build. She grew up with her grandmother on the farm. Alaris never knew her real parents. She has been with her grandmother since she was a baby.
Alaris was still sitting under the apple tree when she heard her grandmother call her from the house across the field. When Alaris walked through the old wooden door she saw that her grandmother had prepared lunch for her. Rabbit stew.
“Sit down and eat dear,” Grandmother instructed.
“Looks great! Thanks grandmother.”
“Your welcome dear.”
Alaris loved her grandmothers cooking. Her plate was empty in no time. After she finished she decided to go and join Carver in swimming. She gave her grandmother a hug and headed out the door. She crossed a field and into the forest line. The usual spot they went swimming was a small waterfall and stream. They all enjoyed jumping off the waterfall. As Alaris approached the waterfall the only sound she could hear was the moving water. She did not hear Carver or anyone. She searched around for awhile and was about to head home when she heard two large splashes in the water on the other side of some bushes. “Carver,” she thought to herself excited as she headed towards the sound.
Alaris came to a line of bushes and still didn't hear Carver or his friends. She moved into a gap in the bushes and froze when she heard and deep growl that gurgled at the end. She stood silent and it repeated again. Alaris slowed. She crept into the bush and moved branches aside to look. It was not Carver. Two of the ugliest creatures she has ever seen stood in the water on the other side. The creatures were large, they had four arms that came down into three claws for a hand. Their heads were insect like with large mandibles. Alaris gasped and stumbled backwards, tripping over a root and hits the ground hard. Crawling backwards as quickly as possible, she then turns, gets up, and starts running.
Alaris ran as fast as she ducking branches and and plowing through brush, she could hear the creatures behind her closing in, breaking through branches and anything in their way. She could hear them getting closer.
Alaris, struck in the back with a force that sends her hard to the ground. Her shoulder smashing into a rock, pain pierces through her body. Before she could get her bearings straight she was grabbed and hurled backwards as if she weighed nothing. Alaris met the ground with no hope of recovery. She tumbled over and over, falling off a small cliff. She stopped when her body hit a log stuck in the stream. She hit hard enough she felt the break of her ribs, hard enough to taste blood in her mouth and dropped into the water.
Alaris battered and broken attempted to stand. Her ribs throbbing, blood ran from her shoulder and dripped into the water. She could hear the creatures moving towards her. The sloshing sound of the water and they closed in. Alaris pushed herself to her feet. The sloshing of the creatures had stopped. Alaris turned to see what was going on and saw him. There standing in the middle of the stream. A man, sliver plate armor shimmering in the light that broke through the forest trees. A large sword rested on the back of the man The creatures chattered at one another, turned and charged the silver knight. Alaris's legs gave way and she collapsed. Darkness overtook her.
The Silver Knight counter charges the creatures, plowing into the first one and sending it to the ground. The second creature attempts to grab the hero. The knight ducks under the creatures arm and swings off to the right of the creature, catching its arm and in one motion pulls the arm back with his right hand then strikes the center of the arm with his left. The arm snapped clean through. The creature roars in pain as its arm falls limp to its side. The first creature is on its feet, charges again. The Silver Knight stands and waits. At the perfect moment he spins under the creatures outstretched arms, grabbed the mandibles and uses the creatures own momentum to snap it's necks. The creature falls lifeless to the ground. The second creature turns and runs off.
The Knight approaches Alaris's broken body laying in the small stream. He kneels down next to her. His hands begin to glow. He pulls up the bottom of her shirt and touches her ribs. The glow transfers into her body. He then picks her up and carries her off into the woods.
Chapter 2
So It Begins
A large dark throne room. Large pillars about, few torches providing little light to see. Huge double doors creaked open. Foot steps echoed down the center approaching a dark throne.
“Lord Kellor,” said a man as he bowed. “We have found her.”
“Where?” Kellor's deep voice echoed in reply.
“She lives on a farm in the west coast of the free lands sire.”
“Bring her to me alive Melor,”
“Yes sire,” said Melor as he bows his head and exits through the double doors.
Alaris awoke with a startle, she sees the Silver knight crouching near a recently built fire. She had no idea how long she has been asleep. All she knew is it was night. A bedroll was beneath her and a large cloak draped over her for warmth. Her shoulder was bandaged. Not even the slightest amount of pain came from her ribs. She pulled up her shirt to look. Nothing not even a bruise. “Your awake,” the Knight said, startling her a little.
“Yeah surprisingly, What...happened?” Asked Alaris.
“Not important, the only important thing is that your alive Alaris.”
Alaris paused for a moment, “How do you know my name?”
“I know a lot about you Alaris,” he said as he pulled two sticks out of the fire. Both had some kind of meat on them. “Here you need to eat,” he said as he brought one of the sticks over to her.
Alaris recognized the meat as snake and took a bite. “Who are you,” She asked with a mouth full
“I am Tyrinon Lighthand, Silver Knight of the Land and protector of this realm. I'm here to protect you Alaris and ensure your survival.”
“But eh......”
“Enough questions, finish eating and sleep. We will talk in the morning,” interrupted Tyrinon as he got up and walked into the darkness.
With that Alaris finished her snake and went back to sleep.
Dawn came and Alaris awoke. She had a fresh bandage on her shoulder. She looked around and saw Tyrinon standing watch, still in his armor with his sword on his back. “ I don't think he has slept at all,” Alaris thought to herself. “So what now?” she asked breaking the silence.
“You must come with me,” he replied and he walked over to Alaris and knelt down. “You must live and I can't keep you safe if your not with me.”
“I can't leave my life, my grandma.” Alaris said, then sat there for a moment. “Oh my god! Carver! Did you see him? Is he okay?” she asked frantically
“Your friend is dead Alaris, I am sorry, I ran across his body while looking for you,” said Tyrinon sincerely.
“Oh Carver, I'm so sorry....” With tears in her eyes.
“I'm so sorry Alaris,” said Tyrinon as he came and sat next to her.
“ Why didn't you save him!” she said in anger. She began striking him. Her small hands clanking on his breast plate. “ You could have saved him!”
“He was already dead when I found him,” Tyrinon tried to explain , but Alaris would not listen. “Alaris!,” Tyrinon grabbed her by the shoulders. “I cannot bring people back from the dead. It is not within my powers. Things will continue to get worse, these creatures you met are just the beginning. There is an evil sweeping across this land, more will die. You Alaris, are the only one that can stop it.”
“Why me?”
“Because you are the daughter of the man that stopped it 50 years ago.”
“My father? But I know nothing of my parents. Who they are? Where they are from? All I know is that they gave me to my grandma when I was just a baby, she has raised me ever since. Did you know them?”
"No I did not, but I do know someone who can answer all your questions. We must go and you have to come with me,” said Tyrinon as he stood up and started packing up the camp.
"I cant just leave my life, my grandmother,”
"Then we will go to her first and go from there.”
Once Tyrinon had the camp packed up, he and Alaris headed towards her grandmothers farm.
Alaris burst through the door, “Grandmother!” She yelled. She looked in the kitchen. “Grandmother!” She yelled again. Tyrinon's large figure stood in the doorway.
“I'm here dear.” Said Grandmother as she came out of the bedroom. “Where have you been? I have been worried. Oh dear what happened to your shoulder?” She said as she approached Alaris.
“I'm fine Grandmother, please don't worry, I went to see Carver and there were these creatures and they...they killed Carver, then this knight showed up and he saved me and...”
“Shush darling, I'm just glad your okay...” Grandmother trailed off. Her eyes fixed on the Silver Knight standing in her doorway. “Tyrinon Lighthand. What pleasure it is to meet you. I knew someday you would come here.”
Tyrinon bowed his head in respect for the old woman.
“Grandmother,” Alaris said. “He says I have to go with him.”
“I know dear,” Grandmother said looking at Alaris with a smile. “Your father said one day this would happen,” she walked up the nearby stairs, Alaris followed. Her Grandmother walked into a empty room to her right. Alaris was confused, this room was empty, has been as long as she could remember. Her Grandmother walked to the far corner of the room and removed a wooden panel, out of the hole Grandmother removed a sword and dagger.
“These were your fathers,” Grandmother said handing them over to Alaris. “He also wanted you to have this, dear,” She handed Alaris an old paper.
Alaris looked at the paper, it was blank. “I don't understand Grandmother.” Seconds later words appeared on the paper.
“My dearest daughter, I leave these with you in regret that you are about to embark on a journey that will change your life forever. You have to finish what I started. May these help you and guide you safely..."
The paper then turned to ash in Alaris's hand.
“Go with Tyrinon dear, find the answers you seek. I have looked after you and watched you grow. This is your new path,” said her Grandmother with a smile.
Tyrinon watched as a group of men on horses approached
Alaris changed, she put on a white sleeveless shirt then a long sleeved shirt over it. Light leather vest, long brown pants and mid calf leather boots. She put her fathers sword and dagger on her belt then grabbed her old sword she used to train with her Grandmother. She then tied her hair in a tail and headed down the stairs.
“Alaris!” Yelled Tyrinon. “ We have to go.”
Alaris hit the last step in stride and into the room Tyrinon stood. “They're here,” stated Tyrinon.
Tyrinon grabbed Alaris by the arm and pulled her towards the back door. Tyrinon kicked the back door clean off the old hinges and heads outside pulling Alaris with him.
“Grandmother!” She yelled. “Tyrinon we cant just leave her.”
Two of the riders heard the yelling from behind the old farm house. They rode around spotting Alaris and Tyrinon. “Over here!!” They yelled as they drew crossbows and fired. A bolt hit Tyrinon in the chest but bounced off his breast plate, the other stuck in the door next to Alaris. Three more horseman came up behind the two. Tyrinon pulled a dagger from his belt and threw it. The blade sunk in the neck of one of the riders, dropping him to the ground.
Tyrinon and Alaris ran towards the barn for cover. A horseman charges at Tyrinon attempting to take his head off with his sword. Tyrinon catches the blade in his gauntlet and pulls the blade from the horseman's hand, he then turns and throws the sword into the horseman's back and down he went. Another horseman comes in a Alaris but is intercepted by a rock thrown by Tyrinon. The man hits the ground. Alaris draws her sword and stabs the man before he can get to his feet. Alaris looks up and sees three men on foot charge Tyrinon.
The three men attack Tyrinon from the front swords drawn. The first swings, Tyrinon deflects the blade with his hand and lands a punch in the mans face knocking him down. The second mans sword clangs off the shoulder of Tyrinon. Tyrinon smashes the hilt of the first mans sword into the skull of the second, rendering him unconscious Still holding the blade he thrusts it into the gut of the third man. Tyrinon turns to see Alaris fighting with another man.
Alaris moved smoothly, dodging attacks from the man. She was very light on her feet. She wielded her fathers sword in one hand and her old training sword in her other. She parried a blow, dodged another, and then struck. Her one blade cut the mans leg deep and her other stabbed through his chest. Alaris heard the sound of clapping aside her.
Ten men stood in front of Alaris. One was clapping at her performance. He wore plate mail armor but no helm, bald and rather largely built. “Well done,” he said. “Excellent in fact.”
“What do you want,” huffed Alaris.
“Why.....you, in fact,” he stated. “We are here to collect you.”
“Collect me?”
“Yes, you will be taken before Kellor Shadowbox that he may dispose of you,” he paused. “Properly.”
“She's not going anywhere,” said Tyrinon as he joined Alaris's side.
'Ah the mighty silver knight. Protector of the land, Slayer of Dragons. Your interference matters not. Not even you can stop the wave that is coming.”
Maybe, but that does not change he fact that she is not going anywhere.” Tyrinon stepped slightly in front of Alaris.
“I was never expecting to get what I want through force.” The captain mad a gesture with his hand. Two of the soldiers walked up behind him. A limp beat up old women between them. Alaris's Grandmother. “Stand down and come with us or she dies.”
“If she dies, you all die.” retaliated Tyrinon.
“Ill go.” Alaris stepped up but Tyrinon's arm immediately blocked her.
“Alaris my dear, my part is over. I have kept you safe, watched you grow into a strong woman and have taught you all I can. This is your story, your journey. You must live,” Grandmothers soft voice echoed in Alaris's ears as she watched her Grandmother quickly turn, pull a knife from her captors belt and bury it into his neck. The soldier's hand clenched his throat as the knife was torn from its entry. The second soldier turned sword in hand and thrust it into Grandmothers stomach.
“NO!” Screamed Alaris, and charged.
“Shes mine!” The captain told his troops as he accepted Alaris's challenge.
The Captain came in swinging. Wielding one sword he attacked, blow after blow Alaris parried and dodged playing defense. She swung back at an opening. Her sword glanced off the captains armor. The Captain came in again, but rolled off to the side and back. Alaris to slow to realize what he was doing. His free hand pulled a dagger and whipped it through the air. Alaris jumped to the side in an attempt to avoid it. The dagger pierced he right bicep and her arm went limp dropping the sword it held. Alaris grunted in pain. The Captain wasted no time in re closing the distance and attacking. Alaris trying her best to parry and dodge. Blood ran down her arm and the limb was useless to her. The Captains sword gashes her leg. He then kicks Alaris in the stomach. She falls to the ground, her fathers sword flies from her hand. The Captain thrusts his sword down but it sinks into the grass as Alaris rolls to the side. Pulling her fathers knife from its sheath she stabs it deep into the Captains ribs. He stumbles back, Alaris keeping hold of the knife, tearing it out of his side. She jumps to her feet and charges the Captain while he was still off balance. Alaris plowed into him with all her weight, knocking him to the ground. He stumbled to get up. Alaris stood and watched. Before he came to his feet, with a flick Alaris threw the knife into the side of his neck. The Captain collapsed, gargled and breathed no more.
Of the 15 men that charged Tyrinon, only one remained. Stupidly charging Tyrinon for the last time as Tyrinon side stepped his blade and snapped the soldiers neck. Not even breathing heavy Tyrinon walked off in the direction of Alaris. His sword never leaving the sheath.
Chapter 3
Meeting An Ogre
Tyrinon came to Alaris. She was shaking and fell to her knees. Alaris had a dagger stuck in her right bicep. In a quick motion she pulled it from her arm. She screamed and dropped the dagger to the ground. Tyrinon crouched next to her. “Slow your breathing,” he told her as he pulled a cloth from a pouch on his belt. “Sit,” he ordered.”Let me fix your arm.” Alaris sat breathing heavy with tears in her eyes. Tyrinon tore the sleeve over her wound to access her bare skin. He wiped the blood from the wound. His hand glowed a light blue. Alaris watched as the gash on her arm stopped bleeding and sealed itself shut. “Can you walk?” He asked
“Grandmother.” Alaris wept.
“Alaris, I am sorry about your loss, but we need to leave,” explained Tyrinon as his hand glowed and healed her leg. Tyrinon stood up. “You need to honor your Grandmothers last wish and come with me,” He said, hand extended.
Alaris wiped her tears and took Tyrinon's hand. He pulled her to her feet. Alaris knelt next to the body of her Grandmother. She leaned in and lightly kissed the forehead. “Love you Grandmother,” she said softly. Alaris then stood up and walked away. Tyrinon followed.
Alaris and Tyrinon traveled south by foot for three days. Getting food from hunting and what they had. On the second day they also found some fruit trees, ate and took extra for later. They found water in nearby streams. Tyrinon purified the water of any illness with a simple touch. They followed the road and didn't stray from it much.
“So where are we heading,” asked Alaris.
“There is a town one more day ahead. We will resupply there and then head to the house of my orders elder,” replied Tyrinon while eating a piece of dried meat.
“So you slayed a dragon?”
“Yes.”
“I thought dragons were allies to our realm?”
“They are but, some of them go astray and have their own agenda. This dragon went against it's king and killed any in it's path. It devastated farms and lands, homes and families. I hunted it down and stopped it.”
Alaris and Tyrinon continued on their path for awhile talking when they noticed a wagon pulled by two horses. There was a rather large cloaked individual driving the wagon and a smaller man in the back. Alaris and Tyrinon stopped. Alaris shifted behind Tyrinon, hand on her sword. “Hello!” Tyrinon called out. The wagon came to a stop in front of Tyrinon. The Large man driving jumped off. His boots hit the ground with a heavy thud. He was huge, Tall and thick making Tyrinon look like a child in size.
“I have been looking for you two,” the large man said in the deepest darkest voice Alaris had even heard. The man looked up and removed his hood. Alaris was shocked at the site. He was not a man at all. Not even human. He had a large round face, dark tan in color with black blotches about. A large flat nose and small eyes given the size of his face. His mouth had large lips and even closed two of his lower teeth protruded like fangs. “ You must be Alaris. IM GOING TO EAT YOU!!” His arms raised above his head and he let out a deep roar.
“That's enough Marregg,” Tyrinon said calmly.
“You never let me scare people,” said Marregg in a deep yet normal voice.
“You know him?” Asked Alaris in a slightly irritated voice.
“Yes, this is Marregg. He is an ogre,” explained Tyrinon. Alaris had heard of ogres but had yet to see one until now.
“Why did you let him scare me?” Asked Alaris while pushing Tyrinon.
“I didn't know he was going to scare you.” Tyrinon turned to Marregg. “Why did you scare her?” Said Tyrinon as he pushed Marregg.
“Uhhhhh,” replied Marregg, obviously lost for words.
“Who is that?” Asked Alaris, pointing at the small man in the back of the wagon.
“That would be Aurroc,” replied Tyrinon.
“Why didn't he get out?”
“He is asleep,” Marregg told her.
Alaris approached the wagon. “His eyes are open.”
“That's how he sleeps,” stated Tyrinon. “Shall we go?” Tyrinon climbed into the back of the wagon. Marregg jumped back in the seat. Alaris stood confused for a moment before finally climbing in and sitting next to Tyrinon. She happened to be across from Aurroc. His eyes still wide and never reacted to her. Alaris felt slightly uneasy.
“South right?” Asked Marregg
“Yes,” replied Tyrinon as he looked around in the wagon. “Marregg? Where did you get this wagon?”
“Found it.”
“Found it where?”
“On the road.”
“Was there anyone in it?” Tyrinon continued to press.
“Yeah but, they left when I got there.”
“So you took their wagon?”
“They were not using it.”
Tyrinon had no reply. He just shook his head and south they went.
Chapter 4
Relaxation in Amar
Alaris jolted awake from her sleep as the wagon hit a rock in the road.
“Hello,” said the man sitting in front of Alaris, startling her. “I am Aurroc.”
“Alaris,” she replied.
“I'm glad we found you,”
“Me too,” said Alaris. Aurroc was smaller, not much taller then she was. He didn't look like he weighed much either. Smaller face, black hair and dark brown eyes. His eyes also seemed to have a light yellow glow to them. Alaris didn't ask.
They reached the small town of Amar. Surrounded by trees with a small stream through the center. The town consisted of a small weapons shop, clothing store, food market, and an inn/pub. Only about ten houses. Most the buildings were made of wood with straw roofs.
“We will stay here for the night and head back out tomorrow at dawn,” instructed Tyrinon. “Marregg try not to draw to much attention to yourself.”
Marregg nodded in agreement.
They passed through the front gate and made their way to the inn. A boy came to take the horses and wagon to the inn's stables. Tyrinon gave him a piece of silver for the courtesy. Aurroc followed the boy. Alaris, Tyrinon, ans Marregg entered the inn. There was about 15 people inside. Eating and drinking. Some noticed them enter and stopped to stare at Marregg who was trying his best to hide his startling features. Marregg made his way to an unoccupied table in the corner and sat down. Some people approached Tyrinon happy to see him. One asked him about Marregg and after Tyrinon's reassurance a lot of people relaxed and were no longer afraid.
Tyrinon got a lot of respect and it was obvious to Alaris that they thought of him as a hero. Once the word spread that Marregg was one of Tyrinon's closest friends people were even flocking to him. Alaris too got a lot of attention. Some unwanted passes of her beauty by drunken men, made Alaris feel even dirtier and in more need of a warm bath. She also got a lot of attention just because she was with Tyrinon. The innkeeper gave them drinks and food on the house. Even their rooms at no charge, despite Tyrinon's objections.
“Eat and drink your fill. We have a long road ahead of us,” instructed Tyrinon. Mainly to Alaris.
A serving girl came over and delivered their food and drinks. Alaris had a nice roasted chicken with water. Tyrinon also. Marregg had three pig roasts to himself. After they had their fill the innkeeper came over to show them upstairs to their rooms. Alaris had one to herself with Marregg and Tyrinon sharing one next door.
“If ya need anything else lemme know,” said the innkeeper
“Thank you my friend,” Tyrinon replied.
Alaris looked about her room. It consisted of a bed, table and a large wooden tub. “Water,” said Alaris. The innkeeper and Tyrinon looked at her. “For the tub, please. I would like hot water.”
The innkeeper bowed his head. “Yes my lady,” replied the innkeeper as he headed back downstairs.
Tyrinon and Marregg were at her door. “These are nice rooms,” she said.
Tyrinon looked about. “Yeah they are quite nice. We will stay here for two days so we can rest up. We will leave at dawn of the second night.”
Tyrinon backed out of the room. “We will be in the room next to you if you need us.”
“Thank you,” replied Alaris.
Alaris closed the door behind Marregg and Tyrinon. She took off her belt with her fathers sword and knife on it and set them on the table. She undressed, removing her leather armor and mudguards. She dressed down to her pants and sleeveless undershirt. She walked over and plopped herself onto the bed. The cotton against her skin felt amazing. She lay there for awhile waiting for the water for her bath. A knock at the door. Alaris jumped up, excited for her bath. She went over and opened the door. A Man stood in front of her. She looked at him in confusion for a moment then realized it was Tyrinon. This was the first time she had seen him out of his armor. Come to mention it she has actually never even seen him sleep.
“I'm sorry you look surprised,” said Tyrinon snapping her back to reality.
“No. I'm sorry this is the first time I have seen you out of your armor actually. It took me a minute to recognize you.” Tyrinon was muscular built and had long light gray hair with dark blue eyes.
“I just wanted to see if you were okay. I heard a loud thump and didn't know what it was.”
Alaris thought for a moment. She then realized it was her plopping onto her bed. “You are the worried protector aren't you? I'm okay, It was me.” She looked and saw a dagger in Tyrinon's hand. “Everything is fine Tyrinon, thank you. I am going to take a bath and then get some sleep.”
“Get some rest Alaris.” With that Tyrinon went back to his room and Alaris closed the door.
There was another knock at the door. Alaris opened it and saw four girls with buckets of hot water. Alaris let them in to fill the tub. After about eight trips the tub was full. Alaris removed her clothes. She stepped into the water, it burned at first but soon turned into pure pleasure as she sunk down into it. Alaris lay there enjoying a long well deserved bath, soaking her sore body.
Tyrinon and Maregg took turns on watch, making sure Alaris was okay and that nothing happened in the night. At dawn Tyrinon took a bath himself. They were in no hurry to leave so they relaxed and let Alaris sleep, she needed it. After his bath Tyrinon got his armor on and he and Marregg went downstairs. Aurroc es sitting at a table. They joined him. Aurroc already had drinks for them at the table.
“Hello friend,” said Tyrinon. “How was the night?”
“Uneventful,” replied Aurroc. “No sign of enemy camps near the town, or the surrounding areas.”
“Good, go back out tonight to scout and take point tomorrow when we leave.”
Aurroc nodded.
“So why are we protecting this girl anyways?” Asked Marregg.
“Because she is the only one that can stop the evil that is about to sweep across the land.”
“You can't stop it Tyrinon?”
“No Marregg I cannot. I will protect this land at all cost. Alaris can stop it so we must protect her at all cost, even if it's with our lives.”
“You can count on us,” said Marregg raising his drink. Aurroc nodded.
Tyrinon stood up, taking a final drink from his ale. “I will go get supplies, stay here and protect Alaris.” Tyrinon exited the tavern.
Alaris slept till mid day. She laid there on the bed, the soft sheets against her skin. She finally got up and got dressed. She felt like being comfortable so she left her weapons except for her fathers dagger which she tucked into her boot. She left her room and knocked on Tyrinon and Marregg's door. No answer. She went downstairs to get something to eat.
“Alaris!!” Boomed Marregg's voice from across the tavern startling and stopping some people in their tracks. Alaris made her way over and sat down next to Aurroc.
“Where's Tyrinon?” she asked, noticing Marregg was not hiding his ogre features. No cloak, no hood. He wore a fur vest that was open in front. Marregg was pure muscle. She also noticed his arms were the size of her torso.
“He is out getting supplies,” answered Marregg.
A servant girl came over and brought food and they all started eating. When they were all finished Aurroc stood up. “I will go and help Tyrinon. Marregg will stay with you Alaris.” Aurroc left the tavern.
“Come on Alaris, I will take you around town, I have some of Tyrinon's gold, he he,” snickered Marregg while holding up a bag of coins.
Alaris looked at him for a moment. “Okay,” she said standing and headed out the door. Marregg followed.
Aurroc found Tyrinon loading up a new wagon with supplies. “Do you need assistance?” asked Aurroc.
“Yeah, just loading the last of it now. We have enough supplies to get to Danther. We will go south from there.”
“Agreed,” replied Aurroc with a nod. Aurroc helped Tyrinon finish loading the supplies.
It was now dusk. Alaris and Marregg went into every store the little town had spending Tyrinon's gold. Alaris bought new clothes and a nicely carved bow with arrows. Marregg ate two more meals. After they were done they headed back to the inn. Alaris went to her room and dropped off her equipment. Marregg waited by her door and they headed back down to meet Tyrinon and Aurroc. Tyrinon and Aurroc had a table and food. Marregg and Alaris joined them and they had a nice meal. They then separated to their rooms except Aurroc. He left the tavern to scout ahead throughout the night. Tyrinon and Marregg once again took turns on watch while Alaris slept. They all made sure to get as much rest as they could for the journey ahead.
