The shattered tower
Once upon a time, a tower stood
on shattered ground, of crooked wood
and granite blocks, a shallow moat
circled round, to cross, a single boat.
In that tower, three witches cast
madness with their magic, black.
And on that shattered ground, amassed,
thousands of bodies..
... some words you can't take back.
Above the tower, darkness came,
bubbling from out a hellish plain
Day and night became one,
before this madness, life was undone.
Across the shattered, battered plain
where sons and fathers bones decay,
a city by a river mourns their slain,
as inky darkness spreads their way.
Their heroes dead, their trust betrayed
the city waits for The End of Day,
when the shadow of the tower
in madness, in blackness, devours.
The East road runs out the Mountain Gate
and winds its way through the Hills of Fate
Until it reaches the mountain heights
where crossroads meet..
...cast in a freeholds steady light.
Looking out a window from a spire,
Con ra'Dor, the Chained Demon Prince, glowered.
He had witnessed the hags' fire,
what madness spread, how it devoured.
And from his lofty, spire perch
above the pine and trees of birch
He glowered down the mountain side
Thinking,
Soon, two great powers collide.
