The song bird sings no more,

Sitting in its cage,

The sky not visible from

Where it has been for an age.

The song bird sings no more,

In the silent, dusty house,

Where there's no more yelling

Or fighting with one's spouse.

The song bird sings no more

In this slow death of waiting,

For the song went out of its heart

When it stopped beating.
