It Finally Came Out
Sarah and Carol sat on top of a hillside, watching the sun set on the horizon. It was a romantic feeling, for one of them. Carol had a hidden secret. She had loved her friend Sarah since they first met, yet she feared the day she would have to admit it to her.
"I've always loved watching the sunset," Sarah said, dazed by the colorful glow, "It's a sign of romance, don't you think?"
"Romance," Carol muttered under her breath, "Right."
"Is something wrong?" her friend, her love, asked. Her eyes looked to Carol with grave concern. "You've been acting weird all day."
"It's just..." Carol paused, thinking of the right words, "There's something I've been meaning to tell you. Something I've always wanted to tell you..."
Carol swallowed hard. Her lungs felt heavy. Her heart beat faster. Tears began to liquidate in her eyes. She finally said, "I'm in love with you. I mean truly in love with you. I've always felt this way about you. I just-"
Carol stopped when Sarah's lips touched hers. Her heart skipped a beat. Tears rolled out when she learned the truth too.
When their everlasting kiss ended, Sarah looked at Carol and whispered with a smile, "What took you so long to admit that?"
