Snow Day
Once upon a field of snow,
Firelight bounced and it's orange glow,
Chased the dark, gray-blue sky,
To people searching for something nigh.
The patter of soft snowflakes as they sift through the sky,
The laughter of children playing.
The sighs of mothers as they sweep snow from the step,
and old women sit and quietly knit.
In the field of snow a mouse burrows,
It's sleek fur slips through crystallized worlds,
The snow, white dust,
Floats.
Mound upon mound of snow, floats down in starry boats,
Galaxies, all different, yet indifferent to the graves they cover.
The floating snow, oh floating snow,
Glows from firelight's watery orange,
And grows.
