Death
Infinity
Death opened wide her benevolent arms,
inhaled his life as he struggled to breath.
Curtains fluttered, candles sputtered,
raw facets of masked death loomed,
where abundant love once bloomed.
Darkening existence stood doomed,
black sapphires hid in black onyx night.
Solitary confinement of bones, forlorn,
sitting alone to moan in diminished soil.
Life in broken glass of yesterday’s dreams,
slogging, jogging through windblown brine.
Unshed tears leaking, peaking from empty jars,
open mouthed with no words to express.
Can’t catch the fleeting, bleating whispers,
resounding, pounding just out of grasp.
Stardust summoned him home, beyond,
pale yellow moonbeams lighting the way
into beckoning arms of endless infinity.
