L is for Love in The Loud House
So I recently watched the newest episode of Nickelodeon's The Loud House, and some of you might know that I am a huge fan of this series. Last year I did a full review of it and gave it my highest rating. If you're curious about what I had to say you can check out the link below.

After watching it I was super surprised by how much I ended up loving it. Granted I love most of the episodes but there is something here that I think is worth talking about.
So the latest episode is titled L is For Love as part of the second season of the hit animated series. In this episode Lincoln and his ten sisters find a love letter that is directed specifically to a L. Loud. Keep in mind that they all share the same initials in their name. They all figured that the letter must have came from someone they have a crush on.
To some it all up it turns out that the love letters were sent by the children's mother and addressed to their father (which I saw coming already but it didn't take the enjoyment of the episode out). So basically the children use this idea to send their own love letters to their crushes. The last Loud child to give away her love letter away is Luna Loud, the teenage, rock enthusiast of the family. Her love letter was addressed to someone by the name of Sam. We the audience assume that this is a guy, but it turns out that Sam is actually female.
Sam finds Luna's letter in her locker and smiles, which leads Luna smiling with confidence, knowing that Sam could potentially return her affection. In this one episode the creators established that Luna Loud, one of the main characters of the series, is gay or possibly bisexual since she showed an affinity for a guy named Hugh in an episode back season one. Truthfully I'm leaning more towards that Luna is a lesbian. Also I honestly predicted that out of all the Loud sisters, Luna could be the one to be gay. I'll also admit that I did not see this ending coming, and it was so sweet it made me smile too. Just watching this truly shows how far cartoons have come and how further developed characters can be without any limitations.
A gay character isn't anything new to the series. Lincoln's best friend, Clyde McBride, has two dads. But this is a major because this is a main character that we the audience are following and can relate to. Interestingly enough this revelation just happens to be released during LGBT Pride Month.
This revelation also leads to some speculations. Does the rest of the Loud family know about Luna's sexuality? Is Luna, at this moment, in the closet? Come to think about it, there were a couple hints that indicate the family may not know Luna's true feelings just yet, which would make for a very intriguing episode.
I loved this reveal and I loved this episode. I love the show. It explores multiple diversities such as a same-sex married couple to a child with down syndrome, showing that families come in all backgrounds and they love and support each other no matter what. Can't wait to see more of this development in later episodes.
Well done Loud House.
