Harry Situation’s Countdown Reviews: Spider-Man 2
Welcome back to my series of weekly Spider-Man movie reviews as we countdown to the premiere of Spider-Man Homecoming, and now we continue with the follow-up to Sam Raimi’s hit film, Spider-Man 2. And my god was this film awesome.
In the sequel, Peter Parker (reprised by Tobey Maguire) is having difficulty balancing his normal life and his superhero life. He’s having a hard time keeping in touch with MJ (reprised by Kristen Dunst), he’s having a fallout with his friend Harry Osborn (reprised by James Franco), and on top of all that, he’s apparently losing his powers. He also has to stop his mentor turned villain Doctor Octopus (played by Alfred Molina) from creating a device that could destroy the city.
God was I excited to see this movie as a kid. This movie has one of the greatest trailers ever made and it was enough to get me pumped. And my god did this movie kick ass. In my opinion this is one of the greatest superhero movies ever made if not one of the best sequels ever made.
All cast members deliver another outstanding performance. More so on James Franco and Tobey Maguire. I liked seeing Harry just become consumed by hatred for Spider-Man, and Peter is heartbroken that he can’t tell Harry what really happened.
The villain Doctor Octopus, aka Doc Ock, was the perfect follow-up villain. Out of all the Spider-Man villains, Doc Ock was my all time favorite. Alfred Molina was just perfect as the character too. What made him stand out overall was that there was a chance to sympathize for the villain for once, which is something you don’t normally see in superhero movies. That’s what made Spider-Man villains so iconic. You can sympathize for them too.
The action stepped up. That train fight sequence is hands down one of the best moments I’ve ever seen in a movie before. Also I’d like to add that the special effects have improved overall too.
If there was one nitpick I’d have to say is the whole Spider-Man losing his powers thing. It honestly made no sense. How was he losing his powers? Was it stress that affected them? How did they return all the sudden?
Sorry to keep this review short but I’m feeling tired after a long day’s work and so I’m just going to leave it by stating that Spider-Man 2 is one of my favorite movies ever made. I love watching it every time. This movie truly represents Spider-Man in the best way possible.
Positives: Negatives:

Final Grade: A+
So have you seen Spider-Man 2? Did you think it was amazing too? Please be kind, leave a like and comment, and check back for more Spider-Man reviews as we get to (sigh) Spider-Man 3 next week. I’m gonna go all emo in that one.
