Façadia & Petrolia
Long, long, ago…
there was land,
vast and beautiful,
its soil lined with gold,
its sky the bluest blue,
and its oceans filled with life.
The harvest fruitful
and the fruits were harvested.
Hidden amidst two oceans,
and guarded by tall mountains,
the land of Façadia,
was the land of opportunity.
Though the land had enjoyed countless years of peace, an attack on its soil had opened the people’s eyes to the reality that there was a need for a younger, stronger king who would lead them in this battle against evil.
Though the King Leaf I, was wise,
he was much too old to carry out the task at hand.
He wanted to establish a dynasty and that was his vision for his land…
his son, Prince Leaf.
There was a legacy of a king who was a philanderer and a womanizer, who was more interested in matters of the flesh than matters of diplomacy.
King Leaf I decided that never again will his country forsake its values like it did under the ancient legacy and rule of King Peyronie. This was the reason why it was critical to make sure that the right person succeeds him;
although he favored his son, he had to prove him worthy to the people.
Tournaments were held to choose the best nobleman
for the succession of the king.
All the king’s men attended, as well as many well trained and equipped knights from all four corners of the land.
After years of competition, the final knights at the Oval table were:
Prince Leaf, Sir Roarabore,
and Lord Gold-digger.
The King saw to it that the tournaments were held promptly and justly,
and that everyone in the empire had a chance to participate.
(Voters kept away).
The battles were long and tiring
and in the end, the young prince,
the only candidate who justly deserved the position, prevailed.
(His opponent wins the majority).
The humble victor, gave his supporters a royal salute in honor of their efforts and thus began the destiny and legacy of
KING Don Quixote LEAF II.
(Shows the people that they’re ‘# 1’).
Soon after the new king took the throne, happiness and prosperity
flooded the country.
(Economy breakdown).
Since growth and security were strengthened, the king decided to
reach out a helping hand to other civilizations in need.
King Leaf II’s dignitaries brought word from abroad that an evil ruler,
King Sodom had advanced his plans to take over the world with the help of his wizards and their secret potions
thought to be the
deadliest concoctions known to man.
(Weapons of Mass Destruction).
The only thing that stood in Sodom’s way was the great might of Façadia, which had to be destroyed.
The king decided to wage a preemptive attack to save the world from Sodom’s evil.
He assembled a group of his strongest knights, to set sail towards Sodom’s evil lair armed with the finest weapons.
Our hero King Leaf II dawned his silver helmet and his golden shield.
(Cowboy hat).
On the way he established alliances with rulers of other lands, one of which was the Queen of the old world.
She was the most powerful and beautiful woman the world had ever seen.
It wasn’t long till the Queen fell deeply in love with the
King’s charm and character.
She offered to help and sent her lead Knight backed by his best men, to aid the king on his conquest.
As the king was leaving the old land, her parting words were:
“I may be a queen, but my soul is forever your slave.”
The evil ruler heard of the king Leaf’s intentions to bring peace to the world and got ready for war.
King Leaf crossed the borders and attacked Sodom’s army with full force.
In no time, Sodom’s troops were fleeing in every direction,
and the palace was surrounded.
Sodom’s men were made to pledge allegiance to Façadia,
and Sodom was captured by King Leaf and brought to justice.
(Still awaiting trial).
King Leaf had the whole kingdom search for Sodom’s secret potions,
but as it was reported,
Sodom’s loyal wizards had hidden them in hopes of one day having Sodom come back to power.
(Never found).
King Leaf was criticized by his counterparts in foreign lands for they did not believe that a poor broken ruler such as Sodom could ever possess such might, but King leaf never lost hope and kept searching.
He may not have found the potions but he found something even more valuable.
He came about the legendary fabled treasure of Petrolia that had been treasured for so many years
by King Sodom and his people.
(Black Gold).
The people of Petrolia were never happier.
(Abuse of civilians and prisoners).
King leaf brought justice to the ordinary people and divided Sodom’s treasure among the poor.
(The poor investors of the free world).
Petrolia had seen peace for the first time in years and the people of the world could rest assured that there was a benevolent King in power.
(Protestors plead for an end to war).
Wealthy,
Proud,
and more loved than ever
by people of every land,
our hero returns to Façadia
to bask in the glory of his victory.
Parades were thrown in his honor by the people across the land as everyone rejoiced in anticipation of the years of peace that laid ahead for the world.
And everyone lived happily ever after… **
(As the war continues).*

**A fictional account for kids of the historical election between George W. Bush and Al Gore. The story continues on to detail the events that followed President George W. Bush’s first term. The story paints a Don Quixote like persona of a somewhat lost leader who is searching for non-existent windmills of mass destruction. This story aims to simplify one of the most arguably bizarre periods of time in American history.
