Drabble me this. 100 words of fiction. Not 99, not 101, not 847. One hundred words precisely.
100 words of fiction. Not 99, not 101, not 847. One hundred words precisely. On choosing the winner, I couldn't care less about popularity and likes. I care about the storytelling. With a good side dish of solid grammar and following the rules of sticking to a hundred words.

Limnophobia

Jason shivered in the still water of the murky ravine. His frozen psyche transformed sunken algae tree trunks into camouflaged crocodiles. Slimy weeds hung and squirmed like booby-traps above an unknowable abyss.

Just as panic was giving way to calm, a sudden agony stabbed Jason's knee.

The shallows became fathomless as crippling terror concocted paralysis in every limb. Swollen weight anchored Jason's leg to the riverbed.

Time stood still as the Platypus swam...

Desperate lungs vacuumed the cold liquid metal. As the disembodied heartbeat pounding in Jason's head was mercifully smothered, petrified torment dispersed into silent reverence for wild waters.
