Ground Zero
Emerging out of
Dark and light,
She came to me
A shifting sight!...
A swinging streetlight
Caught her face,
And threw the rest
Back out to space...
...At times green
Eyes were
Emphasized...
...On other days
A hint of thigh
Was all I gathered
When she'd
Grace
Me with a presence
That hesitates
To choose one
Figure,
And be still....
...Like passengers
Upon a train
Who kept on leaving
To provide
An empty seat
For new behinds...
You came to me
In shifts,
My love!...
...I'd see one hand,
While with a glove
Another hand
Was veiled
From sight...
...A phoenix
Soaring
Out of sight!...
Or 'til you had
Emerged again
To suss out
Was I
Foe or friend???
You were so cautious
To reveal
If every side of
You could feel
The full amount
Of me,
Or not...
...I rarely had a
Chance to spot
Your whole strategy
'til you bled
Out of my sky...
...Lovely sunset
That slipped away
So gloriously...
Returning to
The mystery...
...Back to the soil
From whence
You slipped...
...Adrift with
Questions...
Tonight I sift
Through remnants
In your wilds,
And waste...
...Cherishing dregs
That in your
Haste
Were not
Consumed
In the bonfire...
Each curling photograph
Admired
By my estranged,
Imperfect soul...
