Promises

Like a river flowing

Like a mind bestowing

The current came, and sweapt

Just like the dreams I'd dreamt

I lost touch with the light

Forgot how to fight the fight

Was forced to run far from home

The creature who was best left alone

Time rolled on in courageous waves

I had stopped counting all those days

Without a worry, without a word

The demons deep within me swerved

I lost control of my control

Forgot the promises I once told

There was no room to measure

I'd gotten swept under the pleasure

Choices came, and choices left

I lost the things my heart once kept

When the tides rose, I fell too deep

From every height, I'd learned to leap

Now I keep my hands well tied

For reasons I try to abide

From there to here, I left behind

The troubles of my worried mind

Now I sit, with arms wide open

Moving beyond the choices I had chosen

The future has never looked more bright

So I count the stars, cause I'm alright

Just one plea of stern advice,

Leave your worries to the wise

Seek further then your own thought
