Maria of Perpignon
I became jealous of the deep earth,
Flesh knows only turbulence and sensitivity,
I longed to exist as marble,
Unmoving,
Unfeeling,
Above a city of blood and filth and electricity.
I did not long for connection,
I longed to soar.
