Happiness
Happiness has blonde hair and pink lips
Her body lies in the shape of an ‘S’ as she sleeps
And her eyelashes play lightly on her skin as she blinks
I had happiness once
Her words were song, sung slow and light
Rarely unaccompanied by a caramel smile
She would tilt her head slightly
Before each kiss
An invitation received like the feeling of
Slipping into a warm bath
Her eyes sparkled with youth
But still managed to glow golden with experience
Like she knew the world and was willing to tell me
All of its secrets
I lost happiness not long ago
She passed me like a breeze in the desert
I remember her less precisely now
Her hair was blonde, but did the strands covering her ears
Fall like ribbons or waver like candle flames?
Was it dark only at the crease of her part
Or did the beautiful brown spread itself lightly
From root to tip
I know it was one, but my memory has forsaken me
Along with happiness and her emerald eyes.
