Twins
I watched a few twin studies, growing up. I have a personal interest, because I am an identical twin.
When raised apart, according to this study, twins are likely to be MORE similar than if they are raised together.
I can attest, growing up with my twin, we always had a lot in common, but we also diverged in a lot of things.
I was the athlete, she did better in school. I climbed trees, she loved animals.
I loved animals too, but not the way she did.
She climbed trees, to, but not with the same raw enthusiasm.
I once went to a karate tournament, and this pair of twins were killing it in sparring.
One got the silver metal, one got the gold.
After that, I wanted my sister to join karate like me, so we could train together and kick ass.
But she didn’t want to. She didn’t want to be the same as me.
We wanted to be different. Always trying to distinguish ourselves from each other.
Maybe, if we’d grown up apart, we would me more similar than we are, now.
Maybe without the experience of growing up together, nature would have taken over.
But clearly, nurture matters, too.
In short, I say 50/50. ^_^
