back where they belong
Flashes behind tearful shining lashes
Reflections of a world that once was reflecting in eyes
Stricken with awe at the vision of when stars
Danced in tandem, their shimmering silver skin
Glinting in the moon which sings for their performance
The soul's windows close and open, open and close,
But they cannot banish the hauntingly beautiful,
And--somehow--hauntingly sad images
Stars laugh and smile and wear their joy
And moonbeans give birth to comfort in their etheral song
But something... is so, so... wrong
The stars and moon dance for human beings,
At their mercy
A glorius celebration turned to an unwilling puppet show
The deitys' inferior creatures exerting their greed on things made for beauty
And so, the stars retreat
And moonbeams become less free
They seclude themselves in the sky
Far away from prying eyes
The creature, gifted with the tainted image
Suffocates in the silence left in the wake of the screams of sky's inhabitants
And swears that someday,
The stars and moonbeams will be back where they began
Back where they belong.
