Could be an act that results in death, the aftermath of death, or the essence of death, a Eulogy for the dead etc. Writer's choice. "Best" piece chosen by a 3 judge panel of myself and 2 others. Winner gets a custom ready-to-hang 16"x20" canvas with their jumble on it! (Feel free to inquire for details.)
We Are But Mortals Living On Borrowed Time
Sit,
In silent mourning.
Swallowed,
By what is left.
A void,
Ever expanding.
Erasing,
Until there's nothing left.
Ache,
The heart is breaking.
Trumpets,
Steal our breath.
When,
We discovered,
Invincibility,
Was not made for us.
