Lingering Scents
"I hope you don't mind"
Words that floated out of
the air and landed on my
cheek before her lips
caressed my cleanly
shaven skin
Blushing, (wait I blushed??)
Blushing like a teenager
recieving his first kiss
"Don't mind at all"
I said with a smile
Leaning in, I returned the gesture
But a split second
turn and our lips met
and she smiled
and said "That was nice"
With the tell tale
red rising up her face
We were quiet as
I walked her to her
lobby door
Breaking the silence
"I hope I can see you again..."
She smiled and said "When?"
It being Wednesday,
"How about Friday?"
She replied back, lilting
her head with a smile,
"So tomorrow then??"
Smiling as I could feel
The heat of that moment
that had just burned into
my memory, and simply said
"Tomorrow sounds great..."
and leaned in once more
to kiss her goodnight
"Tomorrow then...
Goodnight", And I
watched as she walked
through her lobby door,
to the elevator and out of sight
and left me with the memory
and the lingering scent
of a beautiful woman
and the invincible
strength of hope...
