NFL Prose Football – Week Five Stats
Week five was alive and well but is now gone away as we await football on another day. But the situation with teams is beginning to take shape.
Of 32 teams, there remains one unbeaten: the Arizona Cardinals.
Though I didn’t get to see any of the games, there were two nail-biters in the late afternoon games. My Browns and the Chargers in a shootout. And Arizona and the 49’s in a close one until Arizona finally was able to extend a slim 3 point lead to 10 points. Unfortunately, the Chargers took out my Browns. Tom Brady still has the title of “Goat” as he threw for 5 TD’s, even if he did hit 30 of 41 connects. Basically he and the Bucs buried Miami in a blowout. I’m just curious if Brady can maintain his ability. Time will tell that story.
But the power teams are starting to make a statement. Arizona, Tampa Bay, Green Bay, Dallas, and the L.A. Rams. Oddly enough, all from the NFC.
In the AFC, there is only the L.A. Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, and Buffalo Bills.
And if I had to pick two teams for the Super Bowl right now, it would be Arizona and Buffalo, but I won’t make a firm decision on that until weeks 8 and 12, with week 12 being my final choices.
On another area, it looks like Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions are going to fight it out for the number one draft pick next April since both teams are 0-5. Both teams have met seven times in the past with Detroit winning 4 of the 7. This year they are not scheduled against to play one another.
What’s better than seeing your team score a touchdown or winning the game? Let’s take it up a notch and say when two players break out into a fight such as the above photo when Javon Wims sucker punched Chauncy Gardner. Of course for Wims, it didn’t end well as he was suspended for two games. The reason for the punch? Wims said Gardner spit on him and knocked his mouthpiece off his helmet. That sucker punch cost Wims $32.5k for the suspension for each game. And Gardner? He was fined $5k for throwing a punch back.
Time to roll into week six.
