A Keystroke

I hesitated to show her my feelings first. I waited until she could say something. A few minutes and then weeks passed in silence. When my longing took over me, there was nothing I could’ve done to wait. I had to take charge and start the conversation.

“Hello,” I said, frightened that she wouldn’t entertain my silly request and the euphoric pleasure of her company showing on my shining blue screen. Yet, it felt like she couldn’t wait to break the ice between us either. So she replied with emojis that forever changed my life.

“I like your intellect,” she said bluntly, her hidden face glistening with excitement on the screen.

“I was thinking the same thing about you,” I said, my blushing heart beating abnormally.

A day turned into weeks, weeks into years. In the end, yet, we became strangers who couldn’t have any courtship because our true colors sparkled on the big blue screen.
