Daniel 5:22 & Daniel 6:7 - Redeemed By The One Above All (Bible Journal)
“You are his successor, O Belshazzar, and you knew all this, yet you have not humbled yourself (Daniel 5:22 NLT)."
"We are all in agreement—we administrators, officials, high officers, advisers, and governors—that the king should make a law that will be strictly enforced. Give orders that for the next thirty days any person who prays to anyone, divine or human—except to you, Your Majesty—will be thrown into the den of lions (Daniel 6:7 NLT)."
It is interesting how Belshazzar and Darius both failed to learn from King Nebuchadnezzar's failure to acknowledge "that the Most High God rules over the kingdoms of the world and appoints anyone he desires to rule over them (Daniel 5:21 NLT)." Belshazzar lost his life from his mistake, while Darius' failure put Daniel in danger instead. Despite his poor choices, I have a feeling that Darius putting his faith in God to save Daniel from the lions was what not only saved Daniel, but also brought about Darius' own redemption, keeping him on the throne. Lord, thank You for redeeming me from my failures in present times, thanks to the death and resurrection of Your Son. Please help me to always remember that You are above all, and my blessings and successes all come from You. Thank You for all that You do for me every day. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
