Roadside Attraction

My life

an elborate diorama

in a make-shift museum

in the back room of a Texaco

added on in 1967

before they moved the main road.

I wait

with the others

the jackalope

and native village displays

for someone

perhaps

looking for the restroom

wanders back

and puts a quarter in me

so my life can advance in jerks

three minutes of amusement

before

they move on to see

what the jackalope will do.
