Spring

The shadow of winter has finally retreat

the groundhog's shadow revealed at last

six weeks of slumber left to melt away the past

The rousing roar of golden beasts lurking outside

their proudest gaze braving sun or rain

daffodils bearing bonnets not as shade but mane

The regal regale carried away on wind

beckoning spring showers to ensue

renewed roar to raise the spirit of Earth anew
