Punishing Hands
Groan the window shut
Paint chips
Rain confetti
Retreat
Stew in
A cloak of drudgery
Marinade of what-ifs
Sheen of what-I-could've-saids
Instead
A head appears
Persistence, cheer
For this morose party
Of one
Drawing the ghost
Of a glimmer
From my eyes
Punishing hands
Always seem
To look like mine.
