My Batman
This is a sad day for all comic book fans. Kevin Conroy, a voice acting legend who has been the definitive voice for Batman for over thirty years, has passed away at the age of 66. He first voiced the Caped Crusader back in 1992 in the hit animated series Batman: The Animated Series, and since then he has been the voice for the character on other DC projects such as the Justic League animated series and the Batman: Arkham video game series.
This man, his voice, was something that's been attached to me since childhood. It's his Batman that I always hear in my head whenever I'm reading a Batman comic. That's how much of an impact he had on me. I actually got a chance to see him at Wizard World a few years back and just seeing the man and hearing his voice was a once in a lifetime experience. He loved his work, and he loved his fans.
Anyone can argue who the best live action Batman is. Adam West or Michael Keaton. Christian Bale or Ben Affleck. But, for me, the truly greatest Batman was always, and shall always be, Kevin Conroy. He was my Batman. He will forever be my Batman.
"Everyone is handed adversity in life. No one's journey is easy. It's how they handle it that makes people unique."
-Kevin Conroy (1955-2022)
