Mark 3:3-4, 6 - Good & Evil Sabbath Deeds (Bible Journal)
"Jesus said to the man with the deformed hand, 'Come and stand in front of everyone.' Then he turned to his critics and asked, 'Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?' But they wouldn’t answer him (Mark 3:3-4 NLT)."
"At once the Pharisees went away and met with the supporters of Herod to plot how to kill Jesus (Mark 3:6 NLT)."
It is pretty clear who the real baddies were from reading this story in today's Scripture. The Pharisees wanted to try and get Jesus in trouble for working on the Sabbath, while also having no qualms with utilizing the sin of murder for holding on to their status. I can't imagine God wanting us to follow the Sabbath so rigidly that we ignore someone in need, and I know God would definitely not want someone to plan a murder (especially for selfish reasons) on a day that was meant to be kept holy no less.
Thank You Lord for once again showing me how I should act thanks to Jesus' example, and how to not act thanks to the example of the Pharisees. Please help me to perform life giving activities, and please help me to continue to listen for more of Your lessons as I continue to walk with You and learn from You. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
