Phantasmagoria
The body dangled mid-air. His heart felt absolutely torn to pieces. Right before his very eyes was the figure of his beloved. Her bold features, and sunny face now looked plain, quite plain, as if a vampire had ended up draining the life out of her.
He could not hold it anymore. His body trembled. This was not how he had expected to be welcomed back home. He had thought of opening the door, and seeing her Mona Lisa smile meet, and greet him, but instead of a hearty-warm invitation back to his beloved, it had been the Grim who had stared at him as he walked through the front door, and into his now dreary, cold, and uninviting place.
The Reaper grinned, "It is too late for you to shed tears for her, Ezekiel. Do not even try to use your powers to bring her back to life. That is not going to work, not this time, or any other time. Capeesh?"
Ezekiel looked at the Reaper, and used his telekinesis abilities to shift the scythe from the Grim's hands into his mortal own.
The Grim shook his head, "C'mon, Iel. Stop trying to make this a much harder and longer process than it needs to be. Alright? Just let me do my job. Please, do not try to make this task of mine difficult. Go get some air, and come back when you feel at least a little bit better."
The Reaper waited for Iel to go to the front porch. Once he did, the Reaper used his scythe and tore an opening for a portal to the Netherworld. A blast of skeletons appeared, chuckling, and thinking they had found a small chance to escape from the other side. They always had high hopes that they could find a way back to earth.
The Grim Reaper groaned, "Nope. Not today. I can not have one in this world planning a way to get his wife back, and you lot forcing your way back into the living realm. With his scythe he tore another opening, and this one had a powerful gust of wind. The ones that thought they could escape were sucked into the new portal, along with the Grim Reaper, as well as their newly added member- Iel's flame.
Her body refused to tag along to the Netherworld.
The Grim looked back, and he gasped, "What kind of sorcery is this?"
Ezekiel's wife's body was ablaze. Although her eyes were closed, her body was moving with some kind of peculiar clairvoyance. She raised her arms and a burst of blue flames rained in the room. Then she directed the flames at the Grim.
He ducked, and closed the portal before she could send additional flames his way. As soon as the portals closed, she took a deep breath.
Meanwhile, Ezekiel was slowly dragging himself back into his house. He opened the front door leading into the kitchen side of the house, and nearly fell onto his bottom.
He felt like someone was playing a trick on him. Ezekiel rubbed his eyes, and gulped. "Darling, welcome back home. What would you like me to prepare for supper?"
Ezekiel wiped the tears from his eyes. His chest heaved like a ship caught in a heavy storm. He ran toward his wife, and embraced her. "I...I thought I had lost you..do not go toward the golden light. Stay here with me for a little while longer. Not even death will do us part!"
