The Adventures of Naomie 35
The Adventures of Naomie 35
The only expense was a new mattress for Naomi. Thomas told Matthew to pay for it out of his expense account he had set up before he went to India.
Cindy was at the house before Naomi, Charles and Rosie arrived. She had it all ready for Naomi to move into. That was easy because when Thomas was away she would walk over to the house once a month to make sure everything was dusted and all in order.
"I was not sure of curtains or wall art so I just pulled things out of storage and hung it up. Everything came from the house itself. The items, except for a new mattress all belonged to the grandparents.
If you do not like anything you are free to change." said Cindy.
"No it looks perfectly fine for me. I even see you have that beautiful roll top desk all shined up for my laptop. Rosie came along to meet you and to tune the piano."
We will have lunch in about an hour and a half.
My Mother-in-Law is the sweetest lady in the world.
She is taking care of the children while I greet you and show you to the kitchen.
There is a new microwave in there. I live on the use of that believe me with a busy husband and four little ones I need a time saver.
The kitchen stove is quite old fashioned. I know you can handle that. I want to show you the pots and pans in the kitchen."
Charles excused himself to go talk to Matt.
Rosie tended to tuning the piano. Cindy and Naomi went to the kitchen then out to the back yard.
“You may use any of the herbs I have planted back here. Thomas never uses them. I keep an herb garden here hoping he will use them some day but...
Meanwhile we use them and I am slowly introducing the children how to grow herbs. It is important for them to learn.”
“Yes it is important. When I was in Kolkata,
India the couple I lived with used herbs in all their meals.
I loved the Lemon Grass tea.”
“I have lemon grass in the back. Actually it is overgrown.
I left it there along the fence because it also keeps the mosquitoes away.” said Cindy.
Almost an hour and fifteen minutes passed
and the two ladies went into the house to see how Rosie was doing. From the attic they heard the sweetest tune:
English Country Garden
How many kinds of sweet flowers grow
In an English country garden?
We'll tell you now of some that we know
Those we miss you'll surely pardon
Daffodils, heart's ease and flox
Meadowsweet and lady smocks
Gentain, lupine and tall hollihocks
Roses, foxgloves, snowdrops, blue forget-me-nots
In an English country garden
How many insects come here and go
In an English country garden?
We'll tell you now of some that we know
Those we miss you'll surely pardon
Fireflies, moths, gnats and bees
Spiders climbing in the trees
Butterflies drift in the gentle breeze
There are snakes, ants that sting
And other creeping things
In an English country garden
How many songbirds fly to and fro
In an English country garden?
We'll tell you now of some that we know
Those we miss you'll surely pardon
Bobolink, cuckoo and quail
Tanager and cardinal
Bluebird, lark, thrush and nightingale
There is joy in the spring
When the birds begin to sing
In an English country garden

They both stood and listened swaying to the music with smiles.
“The Spencer piano in in excellent condition It needs no reconditioning. The string compartment is clean. There are no defects I can find.
It has been covered and protected with the dry Lavender bags. I tuned it and as you heard it is ready to go.” said Rosie.
“ Thank you so much for tuning this piano. I was hoping it would be in good condition for someone to use.
I do not play but I certainly love to listen. So happy it was not given away. We will have to ask Matt's Mother Mildred Bell at lunch about the piano.
All I know is that the grandfather, closed up the house when his wife passed. That and the property we live in across the street belonged to their grandfather.
Mildred is sweet and she will tell you today or whenever Naomie and she talk. We better get over there to lunch or Matthew and Charles will gobble it all up!” laughed Cindy.
Mildred had made a wonderful lunch that was both adult and kid pleasing. The whole meal was consumed.

She had a vivid imagination and would carry it on for the rest of her life.
