The Adventures of Naomie 45
The Adventures of Naomie 45
“ You two sound good together. You should start a band. I could get my kids out here when they wake up. They can play Maracas, sticks, bells and Tambourine. I even sing.” laughed Cindy who belted out:”
Oh give me a home, where the buffalo roam
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard, a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day
Naomie and Johnny sang with Cindy:
Home, home on the range
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard, a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day
Matthew and Johnny's son drove up. They walked over to the porch. “I knew my Dad would get a band together while we were out at the ranch.” said Carlos Buck Eturbi.
“Carlos Eturbi meet the best large animal Veterinarian I know. You can even tell my brother,Thomas, I think Naomie is a better large animal Veterinarian than anyone I actually know.” said Matthew.
Dr. Williams I would like to hire you to work out at my Ranch for a few days. My wife said to bring one dress for an evening dinner. She hopes you come because she has a nice quiet room picked out for you with its own private bath.
When Naomie pulled up in her truck a cowhand came out to carry her suitcase, laptop and Vet satchel into the main house.
“Mrs. Eturbi, your guest has arrived.” he said.
“Thank you Mr. Jonathan. Leave the bags near the stair landing. Miss Ethel has lunch for you.”
“Dr Williams, may I call you Naomie while you are with us?”
“Yes, certainly. And may I call you Linda?” asked Naomie.
“Yes you may. I am so very happy you will be with us for a few short days. I wish it was longer. I admire your working talents. Come let's go up to your room. I picked it especially for you as it was mine when I was a young woman.”
Linda rose from her chair and gingerly with her cane went to the stairs. She pulled down a seat for herself and another small carrying shelf for the suitcase and vet bag.
Naomie carried her purse and walked alongside Linda as they chatted.
“ I do not get out a lot. I do not drive anymore so I depend on others a lot.” said Linda sadly.
Naomie thought to herself she would have a talk with Linda about the possibilities of her driving.
After all, if Charles Krauthammer could drive, so would Linda.
Entering the room she felt like a fairy princess. Upstairs then up to the attic where the ceiling was typical wood covered rafters. It was finished and stained to match the door moldings.
The walls were a dusty rose. A painting of someone's favorite horse hung on the wall near the bed.
Across the room along the same side of the wall was a beautiful mirror over a well polished dresser. The large bed is covered in a mossy green woven spread, four large pillows and a cozy lamp for reading.
Near the center of the room a massive coffee table and a comfortable leather chair sat on beautiful oriental rugs.
Next to the wall was an entrance into a bathroom. A beautiful clawfoot tub sat close to a five foot window made up of several smaller windows.
Linda told her the horse in the picture was named Reservation Flower and because of this horse she was lame.
Charles Krauthammer led his life fully, vibrantly. Yes, he was very badly disabled. No use of his legs, almost no use of his hands, and yet he lived a full life. He had a car outfitted so he could drive the streets of Washington.
Linda, you can do it. I will help you find the resources. I have lots of friends from my college days and some from all over the world. You can do it. I have faith in you.
“Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.” —Norman Vincent Peale
She had a vivid imagination and would carry it on for the rest of her life
