Writer’s Block
I've been struggling to write a poem
Maybe it's the need to force rhyme
Or create these crazy metaphors
In hopes that you awe at my wit
I use to write daily
Thoughts turned to poetic odes
I fell in love with the play of words
I use to make adjectives responsible for describing my identity
In ways only similies could define
Like how sweet her lips taste
After finding trust again
Only understood by feelings of
Raw emotion
Not always easily explained
By the call for performance
The pain buried deep between
Sorry and forgiveness
Betrayal and worry
Lying in that space are wounds
Never visible
Often struck by the voices
Of curiosity
I find myself in front of a classroom
Teaching poetry
Though they know not that
I've struggled to write a poem
I challenge them in every way
I have not
To find their story
To tell their story
To BE their story
Hiding behind the words and stories they create
Crying inside, in envy of their bravery.
So today I write a poem
For those who struggle with writers block
Today block the writer
And simply embrace human thoughts
