Longing

Separated by distance,

And time...

My mind drifts away

With thoughts

Of you.

A deep sense of

Separation,

And desperation.

Wishing the days were shorter,

And the nights longer.

To be by your side,

Once again.

Slowly it goes,

Inch by inch,

Mile by mile.

Longing...

Driving it forward,

Anguish filling the void

Between us.

Memories quench the ache,

And extinguish the emptiness.

Recollection now my only solace,

Dousing the flames,

And soothing the burn.
